Abomination and Fetid Pool instead of Dying God

As a vit/chaos dot conjurer, instead of dying god i am thinking of getting abomination(right side) and fetid pool. What do you think? I loss %10 vit and %20 chaos bonus damage but at the end i have two procs skills and better buffs on the way there.

In both cases you’ll have to take quite some fillers to fulfill the conditions for Dying God (15 Primoridal) or Abomination (17 Eldritch), so you’ll have to ask yourself if they are really worth it.

As you wrote “vit/chaos dot conjurer” I assume your main attacks will be totems/SoC/CoF/Dev. Swarm, not so much Doom Bolt. If this is true, Chaos Damage is EXTREMELY complemental to your build. Wendigo Totem, Storm Totem + transmuter, SoC and Dev. Swarm are all dealing Vitality Damage and 0% Chaos. Only destruction and the occasional Doom Bolt will deal Chaos Damage. (Also depends on which Granted Skills you are using on your gear.)

Consequently % Chaos Damage shouldn’t be overestimated, which is why I think that especially Abomination isn’t really worth it. (Also you can get its Poison & Acid Resistance from Aspect of the Guradian.)

At some point you’ll have diminishing returns from even more DPS. In the end, going from 1400% to 1500% will raise your actual DPS by only 7%. (Being able to kill some Nemesis boss within 28 instead of 30 seconds won’t help you much if you’re dead after a few seconds.)

Keep in mind that most of your gear will have a combination of Vit and Chaos Damage anyway. With my build, I had about 1.2k % Vit Damage in the end, and although I completely ignored Chaos Damage, I also had more than 1k % Chaos Damage. I don’t know what gear you will be using, but even with “only” 600 or 700% from gear, adding even more % Chaos Damage from devotion simply isn’t worth it (especially if it’s costing you as many devotion points as Abomination).

Fetid pool is by far the BEST CC skill in the game (maybe aside from OFF) with 100% chance to confuse targets in a HUGE radius, bind it to curse of frailty for maximum effect. If you are poison-based or at least have decent poison +% damage (easy to do since most OC gear carries + poison damage, as well as through the possession skill and dreeg’s blood), it clears mobs outright by itself if left alone (CoF will trigger it 2-3 times depending on the duration, during which monsters will hit themselves while being poisoned constantly)

There is no reason not to take it if you have accessed the constellation. Dying god, while not bad, is by far inferior.

In my experience, Sigil/Swarm delete mobs by themselves while keeping you at max health. Doesn’t particularly need eruption.

That said, Eruption is absolutely bonkers in Poison builds. It pretty much does more for them than all of the other poison devotion procs combined.
