I’m a bit confused as to how exactly debuffs like viper or mark of dreeg (component) work.
I’m pretty sure they only apply on basic attacks and skills with weapon damage, but I have no clue as to how they interact with the %WD of different skills.
let’s take viper for example, it says: 20% reduced target’s Elemental Resistances for 3 seconds.
let’s say I’m using 16/16 Shaodw Strike to proc it, will it reduce resistances by 60%? (300% of 20%) will it last for 9 seconds? (300% of 3 seconds) will it remain the same 20% for 3 seconds? I used to think the third option is what happens but i’ve read today someone saying that viper isn’t worth on panetti because it has low %WD so now I’m not sure anymore.
I actually always see/hear different responds, some people say it multiplies along with the WD and some that they don’t.
From my experience, and I might be also wrong, it scales with WD till 100%, then doesn’t scale anymore. So, if you have an attack with 10% WD, it’ll apply 2% reduction for 3 seconds, if you have 100%, 20% for 3 seconds, if you have 2374%, 20% for 3 seconds.
From what I understand, properties that goes into the wpn dmg scales with the % of wpn dmg you do, up to 100% value.
Im 99% sure that all RR-debuffs based on weapon damage max out at their listed value, even when %WD exceeds 100.
Or in the viper example:
-attacks with a 10% wd modifier will apply a 2% debuff (20%*0,1)
-attacks with full 100% wd will apply a 20% debuff
-attacks above 100% wd will still only apply a 20% debuff
Im preeeety sure I would have noticed stuff like acid spray reducing resistances flat by 75%+ with SS :eek:
Before Crate fixed it in the Alpha, things like Execution would multiply RR on the weapon itself (i.e. Plaguemancer’s prefix) by the skill’s WD%.
Doesn’t work that way any longer though!
I have never heard such thing as RR multiplied by WD before…
RR like viper for example, should work like this:
If it’s the only source of RR and applying to a mob with 10% resist, it will reduce 2% resistance of the mob.
The good old days when every build used Plaguebeaerer’s of the abyss weapon with 2 mark of dreegs
Or they’d stack % damage to health and eviscerate bosses with maxed out shadow strike.

Weapon damage scales the effect up to 100% weapon damage.
If you have Viper’s 20% RR and hit something with an attack doing 50% weapon damage, it’ll apply 10% RR. Hit something with 100% weapon damage, it applies 20% RR. Hit something with 200% weapon damage, it still only applies 20% RR as it only applies up to the full amount and doesn’t go over.
The same happens for other miscellaneous weapon effects like life steal and energy leech.
Agree 100%. Even when the level cap was 25 it was a blast. Probably around B26 or B27 was my favorite with level 50 cap.
