Add breadcrumb quest to Zedlee for people missing Ulgrim

unsure how big an issue it actually is,
but noticed a couple of times somehow people miss Ulgrim in Deadman’s gulch, arrive at Homestead, get the infested cropland quest from Douglass, but the gate is blocked; missing Ulgrim and subsequent quest handoff to Somer, and is now confused about how to proceed.

Wait how to you miss ulgrim in gulch?

i have no idea !
but seen it, surprisingly, way more than once
^seeing it happen to someone again just earlier was actually what prompted the suggestion since i’ve had the same thought other times too

But it’s in the quest log., you’re being told to get him out of there.
If one is stuck and does not read the quest log… Sorry.
Those breadcrumbs would feel like the “caution, hot!” labels on American coffee mugs.

But does it appear if you haven’t even talked to him in Deadman’s Gulch? I sometimes forget to get him when I have talked to him there, but I’ve never not talked to him there so don’t know if that still appears in the quest log if you don’t.

it’s not if you don’t actually talk to ulgrim in deadman’s gulch first
again, i’ve no idea how people manage to walk past him without seeing him or taking his quest, but seen it several times they stand in Homestead without that part, and the gate is blocked/them unable to proceed and confused how/asking for help
and like i mentioned as recent as yday it happened again

Sounds like a millenial problem to me.
Some people just are used to games with big compasses, that lead to shiny marks, telling them where to go next.

Yeah, isn’t GD supposed to not hold your hand all the time? Or perhaps there’s too little Diablo 4 running through the game’s veins by modern standards? Last time I checked, all interactable NPCs have an icon on the map already, so finding out you’re expected to talk to Ulgrim should take you about one minute tops.

I see this totally unnecessary

almost like it’s specifically not intended for the folks here with 0 issues spotting ulgrim or know about the quest, but aimed at the minority that somehow magically doesnt’?

Exploration and curiosity is part of grim dawn, right?

i’m not disagreeing
i’m stating a problem that’s, however strangely, affecting some people,
however unlikely, or small minority, it’s occurred several times, so it might be worth consideration for those people, like we have different breadcrumbs for far less crucial quests
*not having this quest completely blocks progress btw,
which is why they seem to be super confused when arriving in homestead to the locked gate despite still having 1 main quest/cleansing farm quest from douglass

I don’t think it can really be fixed comprehensively.

This is a smaller case of the much larger issue of “player rush through game, no talk, only kill” occurrence.

I know which specific case spawned this thread - and there was a lot going on there, in terms of “orphaned” early game quests.
But there’s also “Where is blacksmith/inventor?” or “How do I access AoM?” etc, as variants of the same issue.

Game has a lot of text, some people don’t want to read while gaming, or do quests at all.

Actual issue in Homestead: 2 NPCs you have to talk (Ulgrim/Creed) to are outside of vision behind a wooden wall, which leads to the “gate closed, but I talked to everyone” complaints.
I think for West gate, it’s mostly the issue of Ulgrim being out of sight.
But for the East gate, you can get the quest to rescue the prisoners from the Bloodgrove and still have the gate locked, because you need one more dialogue.
It would be more intuitive, if the gate opened after you receive that quest.

And additionally, Ulgrim and Creed were moved slightly forward into line-of-sight.

very very much so, can’t imagine being able to miss him in gulch otherwise

i think that only applies to the other portion of it, when they’ve already transitioned ulgrim to Homestead in the first place
and to my amazement missing that step entirely as you saw, seem like it might be “bigger” since you wont even be able to see him on the Homestead map at all or get the west gate trigger even if thoroughly searching town, still being in deadman’s gulch, with little clue to backtrack for it.
But people def also seem to even more frequently manage to miss Ulgrim/Creed up the stairs when in Homestead for sure
