Addition to Quickslot Bars

EDIT::::******* This is sloppy as shit. People aren’t getting the main point. I wrote this as soon as I woke up because something snapped in my brain and I finally wanted to make this post about getting more quickslot bars w/o mods. Going to revamp this thread soon and put it in IDEAS AND FEEDBACK, hopefully a dev will see it and think about implementing a mechanic like this.

EDIT: #2 Here you go everyone. Revamped. Dont bother with this post Check it out http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63373 ****************************

Key notes*
–620+ hrs steam Grim dawn
–No I don’t have too many skills. I know how to make a character.
–The point about this is maximizing your characters potential with tinctures from factions and new pots AoM.
–You can’t DO THAT ^^^^^^^ WITH THE AMOUNT OF QUICKSLOT BARS YOU CURRENTLY HAVE.
–Use razer naga so I can proc 2-8 different tinctures from my hotbar within a second, and whenever MID COMBAT.
–Poison character I’m restricted to only being able to hotbar 7-8 tinctures (I have to go through inv. to use the rest. It’s a pain in the ass mid battle.)

Hey everyone, just made this account today although I have been playing Grim dawn for quite awhile now. I’ve been meaning to ask this for so long now it’s killing me so now I’m finally here. I have been curious if the mods have ever thought about the idea of adding the option to have more than 2 quickslot bars?

Once you get near end game I feel it is almost mandatory to have more than two quickslot bars…

my quickslot bars go as so.
1st bar- all atk/healing skills n whatever you know constantly using through battle. Key 0 for Aether Cluster
2nd bar- Auras(1-3 or 1-4 depending on how much I have on diff. characters.)
I like to continue the rest of the bar with potions.

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO SEE
1st bar- all atk (last spot or key 0 for aether cluster)
2nd bar- Auras/pots
3nd bar- pots…
4th… more pots if i can…

I have not been able to find any threads/information about getting extra quickslot bars. I only play HC, legit, and DO NOT want to start modding to have to add more quickslot bars. I understand that switching between 4 quickslot bars could be a hassle, so maybe add the ability to switch by holding SHIFT+Y to get to SPECIFIC(maybe last 2) bars. instead of spamming Y to filter through 4 filters

I feel as though adding this could only be beneficial. Pots are such an important aspect of the game, they have saved my hardcore characters so many times as well as allowed me to completely melt enemies. With the addition of AoM we have even more pots to filter through. Pulling up your inventory and right clicking all these short duration pots is a hassle, and kills the output of DPS you could potentially be doing.

For someone who does not use mods, and only plays the legit version of the game, an actual implication such as this would be a godsend.
Sorry for seemingly ranting, thanks for taking your time to read this post if you did.
First post ever sorry if this is sloppy.

TBH i dont use health/spirit potions with E and R - my health potion is always on 1 and spirit 5-6-7…
So I wouldnț mind if Q W E R T Y were set as skill slots !

If 1 hotbar for all in combat needs isn’t enough, you might be spreading your skill points too thin. Try to focus on fewer skills. I get the 2nd bar for auras and buffs, but if 1 bar isn’t enough for your attacks, you may be doing something wrong.

And as mentioned above, you don’t need the potions on the hotbar.

I didn’t have to read what the original poster said, by reading what you said I know what the problem is. You said it already, the person chose to many abilities. Doing that in effect will make the build weaker, because the person is not buffing others.

To the original poster take away some abilities, and focus on three. I use my Left mouse button as the original attack, and I choose three others. The rest are toggle on abilities, you know ones that you press once. And you dont need to press them again, and the other two that are left. I use for health and energy tonic.

Honestly, then you truly are not getting the point along with Gdante’s reply.

You guys literally didn’t even read that my 1st hotbar is only combat, 2nd is auras. (in the case of my warder… everything basically is taken up on 1st bar so I’d only need 3 tops in that case.) I have over 600 hours on this game, I believe I can make a build that works, and have a clear understanding of skills.

Its me that thinks you guys don’t understand how much of a loss you guys are at by NOT BEING ABLE TO USE SKILL POTS IN A TIMELY AND EFFICIENT MANNER.

It is NOT efficient to be having to go through my inventory to use pots. If you use a razer naga mouse you can literally proc 2-8 different skill pots in about 1 second. DECIDING when to use the pots during battle is the biggest turning point. I DONT want to be forced to have to open up my inventory MID BATTLE to use pots. My skills are fine. As I stated earlier as well I don’t want to have to resort to modding to get more quickslot bars.

I dont need hp/spirit pots on my bar… I want 2 bars full of tinctures so I can switch between them and use them as I please mid battle.
Read the post before you think I don’t know how to use skills in general.
I’ll add you on steam and let you play with me if you don’t think I know how to properly choose skills.

I think it is you who haven’t listened.

  1. If your hotbars are that full, your build is almost certainly spread too thin. A very active build might have 5 hot bar slots taken, and 2 mouse buttons. That leaves 5 slots for other stuff. I usually have them full of auras, just in case I get debuffed. The 2nd bar is full of buffs, if they don’t all fit on the 1st.

  2. There are special hotkeys dedicated to health and energy potions. While they put them potions on the hotbar by default, those special hotkeys do not need them to be there to be used.

We are suggesting to you, that instead of improving 12 skills, focus on 3, and maybe a couple support skills on the side.

Edit:
I read your edited post. Do you really feel it is necessary to have every pot that exists in the game, to be hotkeyed on your hotbar?

No it is you who still isn’t listening, and obviously DOES NOT understand how good every tincture is in the game, as well as the new pots that are released in AoM. AS WELL AS WHEN USED AT THE CORRECT TIMES. NOT FUMBLING THROUGH INV MID BATTLE TO USE TINCTURES.
I DONT have an abundance of skills. Add me my name is Arcin on Steam and I’m willing to tell you everything you need to know about WHY WE NEED to have the ability to have more quickslot bars. If you honestly don’t think it’s worth you’re time to be able to use every tincture effeciently… Then I don’t even know you aren’t pushing your character to what it can potentially do.

Think about it. All of the factions tinctures right? Add all of the new ones. I DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT HEALTH/ELIXER POTS As soon as I started the game over 600 hrs ago i made them E and Q and NOT on my hotbars because you don’t need them unless you want to eye down the cooldown like a hawk… Obv. you have tinctures some classes won’t use (IE: Shield block % from Devils crossing, or rovers pet tincture if you dont have pets…) It still doesn’t take away the fact that you have to use your inventory and manual select the tinctures you can’t put on your hotbar. It is 1000X more efficient putting them on the hotbar.

Add me on steam i’ll invite you to a game and give you my poison character for a perfect example. It doesn’t make sense how more people have not realized this. Using tinctures in your hotbar OR if you had a specific hotbar designed for tinctures would make your character insane.(LIKE I SAID USING THEM AT THE CORRECT TIMES.)

Seriously. If you’ve been playing a decent time and can’t assume someone is talking about tinctures… Who tf is going to put 2 quickslot bars of bots. Obviously its going to be tinctures. Every person I’ve played with in games go okay boss is up lets use pots (such as ointments for resistance)…
Come on now.

Most people in the game don’t use the pots except against the end bosses (Log and Master of Flesh). Most people don’t hotkey every pot in existence. There are typically only a couple people use, and they last several minutes. So you open up your inventory, use them, and close it, then go into battle.

You really don’t need 10-20 slots for those pots. Just hotkey the important ones, and leave the others for special occasions, which you can plan for. And seriously, can you seriously recall the hotkey of 20 pots that are only used in rare occasion?

Thanks for this. When I revamp this thread ill use you as a prime example of someone who completely underestimates and fails to understand how vauable tinctures are. . And no tinctures do not last several minutes… ointments will for resistances but not tinctures.
