Additional Quickslot Bars(cont.)

Hello everyone, I wanted to remake my original post from the Gameplay Discussion forms. I thought this might be a more suitable place for this type of material.

-Information to keep in mind.
-I have been playing the game for awhile now. (Currently 630 hours, I understand this can be small for most)
-No I don’t have “too many skills” The quickslot bars work good for fitting in the enough amount of skills for any build, correct. But we are focusing on applying tinctures/oils to the quickslot bar keys.
-I use Razer Naga mouse, which allows use of hotkeys 1-10 extremely quick(explained in last section )
-I have only played in HC, every character I have ever made has been HC besides one.(created recently because a friend is new to the game and didn’t want to start off in HC, only lvl 23)
-I have not gotten to 100, yes but was maxed before AoM and played on ultimate with my hardcore characters. Have been playing and experimenting with new classes since the release.
-Play with a group of friends and we like to make new characters. Mainly them dying :stuck_out_tongue: realistically i have maybe 6 more characters below 50 that I mess around with. Not going to add them.

-Character List(Relevant I guess)
Warder (86) (ran that bad boy through expac ult. first day it was pretty scary lol.)
Commando (85)
Witch Hunter (83) - Current most played character=poison dots/dreeg
Battlemage (76)
Spellbinder (54)
Elementalist (51)
Blademaster (50)
Lost 3 Pokemasters, several Battlemages, several Witch Hunters, A Witchblade I believe, and Mage Hunter being my most recent lost.
I guarantee you more as well lol.

–I love making new characters really. Using different builds and the such. Grim dawn is a fantastic game for making up new ways to blow enemies up, or just walk away and let them die on their own.

Softcore thing–
So when your battling right? I can understand the Softcore players will just run up and do whatever, not caring about death. So their battles could possibly always end up being shorter. They have a lot of time to work with the same character, and take superior risks. I mean they can just teleport back to the monster and finish it then. They never lose their characters and gear with it. Not ragging on softcore, just explaining it straightforward. Not that I think it’s a bad thing either. But this technique can help you burn shit on softcore just as much so listen up, you’ll want this implemented for you too.

Hardcore thing–
With hardcore that is not the case. Unless you want your character to die you have to be smart about your moves you want to make. With the new expansion, things are only getting harder. If I’m dedicated in rushing in and doing a short melt session on some fool, Imagine being able to proc off all those pots within a span of a couple seconds, only losing maybe 1 dreegs evil eye cast off your a poison character. Implementing the ability to add more quickslot bars to put these in for hardcore… Would help immensely, especially with survivability. Generally my battles are going to last longer than your typical softcore fights because I’m going to be much more cautious, kiting the mob and such. There are definitely battles that will last long enough to be able to proc these tinctures/oils more than once for a melt session/boost in defence.

(Again there is always a difference in what build/style you play with)

MAIN POINT
Let’s get right to it. My main point today is about adding a mechanic in the game to have more quickslot bars. I don’t want to have to resort to modding to have to have more than two.

WHY?!?!

** Now why on earth would you want more than two quickslot bars? It’s more than enough to fit the amount of skills you need.
–Well, we are specifically talking about tinctures/oils here and the way they are used in the game. Here is a list of all the tinctures. Yeah I’m really listing them so you dont have to even CLICK ON THE LINKS TO LOOK FOR YOURSELF. This massive list of %'s bonuses, debuffs, buffings, whatever the hell this concoction of mass wreckening you’re about to drop on. It’s going to massively help you in combat, as well as help you survive. After the list, I will explain the effective usage of these, and the sole reason for this post – why we need to have the ability/mechanic to have more quickslot bars.

Notes on Ointments… and such.
Every Ointment(Resistance boosting, minus royal jelly ointment. Thought you caught me?), Salve, Essence, Extract, and Balm, nor the good old ugendjuice aka the nectar of the gods - is not needed in the quickslot bars, as those WILL be used ahead of time. The duration is 450 seconds on all. More than enough time. Elixer Aether/Ancients/Void/Mogdrogen/Dragonhoul all 900 seconds… More than enough time to pop beforehand as well.

Oh and hell yeah I’m putting an Aether Cluster on my quickslot bar. That’s taking up one space. I’m obviously not going to have time to fumble for an Aether Cluster in my inventory If I’m about to die.

----Keep notes on Pot recharge time, as well as duration of pot, and effects that may affect your build (don’t worry about DMG type, the pot will most likely contain an element that will buff/debuff, if it boosts your dmg type, then all the better)

-*One’s I didn’t list because of required recipes and drops below.(Also a random chance of different ones at the vendor in homestead, Isaiah, and I’m pretty sure he sells every single kind + ointments. I haven’t seen him sell AoM pots.)
-**Arcanum Oil, Bloodfang Oil, Elixir of the Hunt, Lifestealer Oil, Venomfang Oil, b[/b]
-***This is important because the ones I listed above are guaranteed potions, so you can get as many of them as you want as long as you got the ingredients/cash/level requirement…

----A LIST OF 20 DIFFERENT POTS–Tinctures/Oils/Elixer of hunt/Whatever.
Quickbar Slots take up 10 slots.
We have two of them.
Let me explain why putting pots in quickbar slots can be extremely important for your character. And why we need more than two.

Overall… Main point, Why we need more quickslot bars, Efficiency

Don’t bullshit me and tell me you’ve never had a fight longer than a minute or 120 seconds (max amount on tincture) thats two minutes… 99% of these tinctures/oils you will be able to use more than ONCE in a battle situation. Almost every single tincture/oil has an element that you can use on any build. Just a little buff/debuff/small damage/AOE effect. And so many are missing out on that because they cant have specific hotkeys set to them, or have never even tried.
–To be able to pick between 20 different pots in my inventory… I literally refuse to take the chance because I’m on HC.
– Now to be able to go to new quickslot bars designed for those potions… Finally swiping your thumb across your gosh dang razer naga and activate those monster pots in .5 seconds. Boom we now have this ability to proc a possible (20) pots extremely quickly, giving us a sexy melt session on a mob. What is so hard to understand that it’s possible to do that and so many people out there have never desired more than two quickslot bars to do that? I will tell you right now, I was with my friend, testing applying pots as fast as I can WITH TRAINING DUMMYS. I was watching my poison character’s damage go from 110k to close/over 200k. Those are motherfking dots man. 70-90k dps boost using them? Yeah thats what most are failing to understand. Yeah i’m playing Hardcore, and I want to play safe. There are many instances where I’ve had longer fights kiting mobs/nemesis/boss/whatever. But I’ve never been able to spam pots like that during those bosses… Because its Hardcore and I don’t want to be fumbling through my inv. to be able to get all those extra procs. I mean damn people look at the new AoM pots. Technically every 15 seconds you can used a cursed tincture on a boss for all those resistance debuffs or even star mob packs you spawned doing a desecrated shrine. But naw it’s okay. Cus’ you can use it before the fight, right? Derp. Yeah have fun using it for the 10 seconds because you spent 5 seconds using other potions and then having to repeat that process MID BATTLE because your forced to pull up your inventory.
-Remember your build could determine battle speed/amount of skills, so this may not even effect you! But whats the harm of having more than two quickslot bars? How will that effect your gameplay? Oh yeah its not, it’s only an implication that allows you to DO MORE.

–Any questions or what not I’m willing to answer. Add me on steam and talk to me. I’ll explain whatever you want. I just want this to be a change so I don’t have to mod my game to add more quickslot bars. The only thing that having two does is FORCE THE PLAYER a way to play. It’s literally taking away an option for you to do this… For no reason. There would be no downfalls, and only benefits to adding something like this. Realistically it would be very easy to control. I currently have Y set up to change quickslot bar. Now all’s it would take would be to change it so you have to push CTRL+Y or even SHIFT+Y to change to specific macro/quickslot bars. You ever play Final Fantasy 11? Yeah I had over 10 macro bars playing that game. Shift and Control brought up different sectioned macro bars as well. Selecting through them was cake. 4 will be easy, I guarantee this will change the way high level content will be played. It brings a whole new aspect of melting monsters, along with buffing yourself at the same time.

Example…-
I’m restricted to 7 tinctures/oils of my choosing because of mandatory skills on my Witch Hunter I can already tell you I want to use ALL 6 new AoM ones, and including maybe a venomfang oil.(random choice but this shows) I miss out on useing courageous tincture(armor one that I would be using mid battle when im hurtin) slithbane tictures… etc. etc. you see my point? I have to go to my inventory to use the rest of those. And given certain scenarios it is possible to use it more than once. K maybe not stormflame tincture, but seriously why not? Free damage proc.

Example…-
-Most of those Oils/Tinctures can be used on any build… Yes it may go against the grain if your per say a fire/burn character right, and you want to use rhowari oil. Well not only does it give you 50% vitality damage(not so relevant to your build) but also the 15% chance in 33% reduction in enemy health.(hey look at that!) OO every 30 seconds too… So if i’m fighting a tough boss I can get two chances to do that?

Okay this took forever to write, and I official commend the @#!$ out of people who make builds on the build compendium.

-I will answer anything, and hope something like this will be looked at. I want to be able to expand my game, and implementing this will be… As I stated before… A godsend. Sorry about the last post as it was terribly organized and not specific, also I was kinda rude so sorry. I will edit further if I see anything information is wrong/ I want to add more examples. I might provide an example later with the combined use of pots, in a battle scenario but for now I will see this post play out, and allow you to think about what you could be missing out on.

Thanks
Arcin. (Also steam name)

Hm …so what´s your point exactly? :stuck_out_tongue:
Just kidding.

I´d love to see a second bar, or maybe something like i think sacred 1 had, extra slots JUST for pots arched over the quickslot bar.
Or rather, both.

Can´t wait for another thread full of people telling you, why THEY don´t neeed it, so you shouldn´t need it. :undecided:

Thanks for your support. Yeah haha this took awhile to cover and make, but I’m glad someone appreciates it. I just want people to realize the use of tinctures/oils in combat, and using them efficiently in a manner people might not have thought of. We just are at a position where we currently can’t use them in the most efficient way. It’s tough to open up your inventory mid combat and have to choose something. I just hope this post provides more insight on the quickslot problem. An addition like this could make melt sessions and tincture/oil use a breeze.
edit: bystander is right about 2 quickslots already. Y i think is set to change by default, otherwise you might have to manually set it yourself. The point of this post is to add more quickslot bars. To have more than 2 (or your example is a good one to have an extra pots bars on top.) The only issue I see with that is taking up more space on the screen. If the addition were made to add more bars, It would just take some getting used to to be able to filter through your quickslot bars efficiently.

I’m not sure you are aware, but there is a 2nd bar. Check your keybindings to figure out how to use it.
