So i am planning a DEE spamming warlock using Dreeg Quillthrower, but I am worried he won’t be tanky enough to survive cruicible and charging melee bosses in general. Tree of life and %DA constellations are out of the question, because I need green and red for abomination and all the acid/poison constellation that come with it.
Has anyone done a successful cruicible warlock? How do you survive without tree of life and %DA? DEE has plenty of AoE and CC against trash, but what to do against the likes of Iron Maiden?
Running Warlock trough crucible is like jerking off while drunk: sure, you COULD do it, but it’s a long, arduous process with a lot of restarting and no real payoff in the end.
Srsly, stick to Soldier-based classes for Crucible, maybe Sorceror.
Edit: also, DEE is probably the worst way to do Crucible, not because it’s a bad skill, but because Dreeg’s set has terrible resistances so maxing everything means sacrificing a lot of dps.
I have several armor pieces “of Blight” and I was planning to use only the Shoulders and Amulet from the Dreeg set. They have some resists and some life on them and the Dreeg shoulders ain’t that terrible either. Everything else is pure crap.
The problem is that all the poison/acid devotions emanate from the character and require green and red constellations, while the defensive stuff is blue/yellow. Also the only way to debuff resists is CoH and Manticore.
I really want to make a non-soldier character for cruicible but it is hard ;(
I’m pretty sure white mobs won’t be a problem and most bosses. But so far I have no idea how to handle insta charging CC immune physical hitters like Iron Maiden, Fabius etc.
Its not that hard you just need to make it tanky enough, look how TomoDak did it on his DEE dot WH.
Also you can cheek my 2H ranged pyro, PB WH, 2H ranged sorc and/or some CT or PRM sorcerer with defensive devotions to get some ideas.
Key to success in crucible is tankynes and there are ways to achieve it w/o soldier and shield imho.
some of procs are never works with casters and i dont like that. i always prefer that procs on target not from you like tainted erruption. manticore is very good for example. if some procs changes like this way, then caster will be more powerfull and kiting easier.
I am well familiar with the defensive devotion setup, which uses the Tree of Life, Solem Watcher and Obelisk of Menhir to maximize survivability via %DA, armor, flat life and regeneration. The problem is that poison damage needs green/red, but this setup gives blue/yellow.
Maybe I can drop abomination and only go after Manticore/Kraken? But will it do enough damage, especially with the lack of poison resist reductions.
EDIT:

This is the best defensive devotion setup I managed to come up with, but it barely gets 200% increased poison/acid damage, without any cast speed. Surely that won’t be enough?
ToL can be replaced with Behemoth, which is Red/Green
Some extra DA could be gained from Wolverine
You’ll have issues with armor and resistances though. Even more with resistances than with armor.
Kraken on a caster character? New meta.
Quillthrower of Dreeg is a 2h crossbow, so Kraken makes sense even with the physical damage and attack speed wasted. Useful completeion reward with 120% all damage, 15% crit damage and % movespeed.
Wolverine is horrible - 4% DA is good but the rest is bad and the completeion reward is unneeded too.
I use Wendigo devotion on my DEE Hunter and managed to do challenger crucible with no buffs/towers and only an anti freeze potion. It provides pretty massive/constant heals and bound to curse of frailty you can curse the screen and it’ll clear out most of the trash for you while healing you while you focus on the heroes/bosses. It helps a tonnnnn and I’ve no doubt I could solo gladiator with buffs/towers
It’s hard, but you can cap out your resists on a dee build. Try to get as much stun res as possible too, stuns are deadly for dee builds
