Advice please - newbie Primal Strike shaman lvl100

Dear Community,

this is my very first post on this forum, please be gentle.:stuck_out_tongue:

I’m a totally beginner in Grim Dawn and still enjoying it a lot. I play my own way and even if i wanted to have a meta build, i don’t own that many items yet to start with any of them.

As a first hero I’ve rolled a Shaman/Arcanist Druid because i fell in love with the primal strike ranged build.

Now i’m asking you!

What is the best ranged weapon for primal strike i should look for?

…And if you could give me any hint where to look for it, would be also lovely! I have completed the main quest on ultimate, i can go anywhere, but i don’t say i can kill anything easily, but most of the content.

This is me now, i know there is a lot of place for improvement…

U find it, but u need specific affix suffix to work. Everywhere can drop items so no problem if u kill what u like.

Anway i would suggest u to check the druid section in the compedium since druid is more caster melee based not ranged based.

Welcome to the forums dozernis!

To post a link you must write at least 3 posts. he best palce to do that is the “Intoduce yourself” section.

As for the build. The Ugdenbog Sparkthrower is actually the best weapon if you are plannig to do a ranged build. For a melee Primalstrike I suggest using Mythical Ultos Stormseeker. In both cases you d want to use all other Mythicals Ultos armor pieces. They drop randomly, the helmet is crafted, so there is no specific place to farm them. But you can always trade with other players!

I’d also suggest putting more points into the Arcanist mastery and take 12 out of 12 Elemental Balance amd 10 out of 10 In Conversion (Maiven’s Sphere passive), leave Maiven’s Sphere, Arcane Will and Overload as one-pointers. Nullfication is also very usefull as a 1 pointer. The devotion looks ok.

Hope this info helps a bit!

Hi dozernis, welcome to the forums!

Sparkthrower is probably the best non-legendary for ranged primal strike, but you might also consider mythical Raka’jax.

Druid is, as others have said, not really ideal for gun builds. It can certainly work, but it will never be as strong as a good Vindicator will.

Take some points out of Overload (really not very good bang for your buck there) and put them into wind devil and raging tempest. I’d also consider reducing your Arcane Will; overcap is really not needed there. Ditch the points in manifestation and grasping vines. This will allow you to get more points in Arcanist to boost your stats and health.

Conversion is excellent, but I usually only get it to 9/10 since the last point has less returns than the penultimate one. Elemental Balance stacks well with Stormcaller Pact to make your crits truly critical. I personally like star pact more than stormcaller, but for this particular build I think stormcaller is the right call since you aren’t using any cooldown skills that need to be spammed. If you are splashing savagery for the passive buffs, you should put 12/12 in tenacity of the boar as well. Cap Heart of the Wild for more health.

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! Gonna check them out

I’ve redone your grimtools link for you. As part of the anti-spam measures on the forum certain things like posting links can’t be done until you have 3 posts. But you have that now so you should be good to go.

Sweet Jesus! You guys are go0d. Just managed to clear den of ancient for the first time on ultimate…:rolleyes::rolleyes: Thank you!!!

Now i have some revenge to take on some of the tough ones… Also thx for the link correction!
