What if there were different animation sets for 2h melee equips? There could be some for spears, hammers, axes. Especially, it’d be great to see that while they’re running with the weapon, it doesn’t look like they’re holding it like a sword with both hands close together on the shaft - especially if it’s a top heavy axe/hammer type weapon equipped.
Then! What if players could choose the animation set they’d like thier character to use, similar to choosing an illusion for the item itself?
There could even be damage-coloured mage animations for for melee where they channel sparks through the weapon, or if they held the weapon in their right hand, maybe sparks could channel through the weapon, through the caster and out of their left hand or something.
Clearly it’s not an urgent idea or something, but it could be cool?
different 2h melee animations has been requested in the past. i don’t know when, but its a very long time ago. because that feature hasn’t been implemented in the game to this date, i think gd 1 engine can’t handle it or something. only crate knows.
caster animations are the same for all weapons. caster animations doesn’t depend on the weapon, it depend on what spell is casted. for example, callidor’s tempest would be flapping arms like chicken trying to fly hopelessly. while panetti missile would be shoving both arms to the front or slapping one arm to the position of opposite arm. many spells share the same animations for example panetti-curse of frailty-devouring swarm etc.
i think creating new animations is a difficult process for grim dawn engine. if not, we would have many different kind of weapon & casting animations at this point.
