[Aether Lightning] 2h-Savagery Aether Lightning Conjurer

This build is probably one of my favorites since it is really flashy
The point is to make use of both Aether and Lightning. Two odd damage types that have been paired up in many constellations, most notably Spear of the Heavens, i chose Savagery cause i wanted to go two-handed. The result is a strong build that can faceroll most content.

Build Concept-

1. Stacking Flat damage-

> Aether-

You have Occultist, just max out Possession and Solael’s Witchfire and use 2x AD rings to achieve 100% chaos to aether conversion. Get a Temporal Arcblade which has flat aether damage. And you’re done. :stuck_out_tongue:

> Lightning-

Savagery’s innate flat lightning damage is low, but Eye of the Storm relic and Brute Force make up for this.

2. Double RR-

Resistance Reduction is bound to be a key focus for any good build. Since we have two main damage types we need to make sure we have enough RR for both these types. Fortunately our two major RR sources in the devotion are capable of reducing both these damage types

>Arcane Bomb -33% (for both Aether and Lightning)
>Acid Spray 30 flat reduce resistances

Further using Occultist mastery gives access to Curse of Frailty which reduces Lightning Resistance by 30.

In total we get,
Aether RR -63
Lightning RR -93

3. Lack of racial damage-

Usually when going Aether damage, it’s recommended to use %damage to aetherials when dealing with them. Fortunately we don’t have to worry about them in this build since we deal significant Lightning damage to them we can take them down easily. Valdaran is a whole other story however

4. Going dual-damage-

Unlike my Aether Lightning Saboteur where focusing on two damage types i gimped the full potential of the build, i feel in this build i am not doing this. The main reason is because there using Decree of Aldritch weakened my overall Lightning potential, in this build however no such conversion is taking place hence maximizing the output of both damage types.
Granted a Lightning/Electrocute focus build would be better but this build is strong in it’s own right.

This the GrimTool Link for Level 100 version of this build. Refer to this from now on, the old GrimTool link will be removed after a while

Conjurer - http://www.grimtools.com/calc/YVW98nJN

Not much of a reason to pick occultist anymore. Below are the better versions. They’ll be moved to a different thread soon

1.0.3.0
Druid - http://www.grimtools.com/calc/nZoWdwzZ
Vindicator - http://www.grimtools.com/calc/RVvPlwvN
Ritualist - http://www.grimtools.com/calc/4NOQnGPV

-The gear for Vindicator works on Conjurer and Ritualist, the converse is also true. All three setups are meant to show how flexible gearing of the build can be

GrimCalc-

2. W/o plus skills and devotions-

Playstyle-

LMB- Savagery (w/ Falcon Swoop)
RMB- (Anything you want)
Keyboard 1- Curse of Frailty (w/ Arcane Bomb)
Keyboard 2- Blood of Dreeg
Keyboard 3- Wendigo Totem ( w/ Acid Spray)

Skill Setup-

1. Defensive Route-

I went this route. Go full into Occultist Mastery bar and get Possession to get that damage absorption, you are more tanky this way. Your sheet dps is almost same as the offensive route. What you loose is the %crit damage from Stormcaller’s Pact.
I personally prefer this route since i can survive things that can one-shot most builds like Rashalga’s shotgun aura, Log’s shotgun spit and Shar’Zul’s axe swipes that hit like a truck.
Also, i have more aether damage to work with this way and can cap my Chaos Resistance

2. Offensive Route-

I haven’t tested how this works. Basically you go full into Shaman Mastery bar and get Stormcaller’s Pact. Boosted by your plus skills you should have a level 15 Stormcaller’s Pact giving you high %crit damage.
You do loose the damage absorption and capped chaos resistance this way but also get more burst damage this way through your crits.
Also, you loose a little aether damage.

First Rashalga kill-

Items-

Weapon - Temporal Arcblade
Head- Ultos’ Hood
Shoulders- Ultos’ Spaulders
Chest- Ultos’ Curiass
Legs- Stonehide Solael-Sect Legguards of the Flesh Hulk
Gloves- Voidsteel Gauntlets
Feet- Stonehide Exalted Treads of the Flesh Hulk
Waist- Girdle of Stolen Dreams
Amulet- Ultos’ Gem
Rings- 2x Albrecht’s Duality
Medal- Mark of Divinity
Relic- Eye of the Storm

Bosses-

You’re pretty tanky and have a good damage output. You can faceroll most of the content. Special note on some bosses.

1. Rashalga-

Watch out for her aura, i do kite a little when facing her if i mistime my heals. Don’t worry though, you won’t get shotgunned to death your hp will drop pretty low and your Mark will get triggered, allowing your to facetank her for the next 3 sec

2. The Iron Maiden-

She’s hard to deal with due to my stun resistance being below 80. You can kill her though, your damage o/p makes up for this

3. Valdaran-

He’s highly resistant to both our damage types, no idea how the fight would go since i haven’t seen him and i don’t like searching for him since his spawn locations aren’t my favorite.

In Closing-

Credits to Cinna for pointing out errors in GrimCalc

I do wish we get more support for these two damage types. And i don’t mean shitty conversion support, i mean actual stuff that supports these two damage types.
Overall this is a great build and i hope you guys enjoy playing with it.

Heheh, I made similar one, wanted to use Widow and Spear on full power) What ratio of aether/lightning have you got??

Umm, 1:1 if i remember my LMB breakdown correctly.

Did you go druid, elementalist or conjurer?

Also i only made this build cause Aether Lightning was too cool to skip

I think this build is better than the Saboteur i made since it has more style. Half of cairn is dazzled and the other half is baffled by the sheer awesomeness of this build
We all know style is half the battle

Druid, I`m not so good in experimental builds, so chosen profile masteries.
May you also post types of damage on Savagery??

I will sooner than i do with my other guides

P.S if Aether was your focus then Druid is perfect imo. (Never did it with a Druid tbh though)

Guide updated

EDIT:
@korsar

Yay, finally temporal arcblade got some love
May i inquire what is yours attack speed?

I think it’s around 160%

It’s a classy weapon with the most awesome looking skill imo.
Glad the devs decided to give it attack speed. Now if only they do the same with Dreeg’s Quillthrower that’ll be great.

Interesting, forgot they added attack speed to that weapon and that’s a nice way to put it to use. Wouldn’t swapping falcon swoop and manticore give better results? I tried using elemental storm on necrosis (same % chance as widow on CoF iirc) and wasn’t pleased at all with the up-time on single target, how’s the % chance of widow linked to the weapon component skill?

Really curious to see a damage break down on savagery. edit: nvm, was posted earlier

Do not argue, the weapons are really cool.
I use a long time ago from my Battlemage.
Really glad that in the last patch it added attack speed.

-Savagery breakdown has been posted already. Should i add it to the main thread

-I tried swoop on my Maelstrom build and used Elemental Storm on a different skill (probably flashbang), i noticed that it was a pain to keep up Elemental Storm. Elemental storm on LMB suits my playstyle much more

-As for Necrosis, tbh i’ve never found that skill attractive, I hate the energy cost. How is it treating you?

-Hmm, i noticed swoop on Savagery had much better results for me when dealing with say Fabius while some idiot thugs are shooting at me.
It gives me more focus when attached to savagery in such odd situations.

-Totem’s AoE is pretty fast and can reliably proc your RR

Saw the breakdown right after posting, doh :o

The elemental storm/necrosis remark was just to point out that 25% activation chance on a ticking debuff such as CoF was far from getting close to 100% rr upkeep for me on a proc that lasts longer.

The one thing I hate about necrosis is that it needs a target unlike CoF so you can’t cast it somewhere in the middle of a pack of mobs so it affects them all if there’s no mob at that particular spot, else it gets the job done.

-What about that ridiculous energy cost?

-Hmm while i would agree about your point regarding activation chance for any other skill but CoF is different. If i understand it correctly then for the duration it remains (10 sec for this build) it will keep “ticking” per second. Each tick has an individual proc chance of 25% of triggering your devotion. Same applies to Gaze of Beronath (Most underrated skill in this forum for reasons that elude me)

Energy cost isn’t much of an issue for the build I use it on.

Necrosis works the same way as CoF does to apply celestial skills. Just that even with 25% chance per tick to leave a 5 seconds lasting AoE that applies a 2 seconds debuff per tick, it still leaves gaps, and arcane bomb only lasts 4 seconds from the moment it explodes. But maybe I’m overestimating the impact of that.

I don’t know man i found CoF+Arcane bomb pretty reliable.

For single target one can choose to go for Oleron’s Might

ty, mate )

Quick question, using a Stormreaver and Ultho’s axe, I get a bigger DPS number, and attacking the dummys or enemies seems to back this up. Everything else is identical as per your build. Am I missing something? Granted, I dont get the aether conduit skill from Archblade, but it seems to do less dmg out in the field then the Ultho’s skill from my axe. (The Wraith constellation gives flat aether dmg, so the boost are not wasted after all.)

Also, would you mind posting your augments? I have 200 less OA, and less armour. I can’t seem to figure it out. And I believe you have 88 points in physique, and 2 in spirit?

-Ultos’ axe would certainly be better due to flat lightning damage, but it defeats the purpose of going Aether-Lightning. Ultos axe shifts the focus to Lightning
Currently with Arcblade the build deals decent amounts of both damage types.
The build’s point is to show how visually impressive and OP melee Aether Lightning is
Getting Ultos axe defeats the purpose imho since it’s just another Ultos build. If i had better gear options i’d throw away the rest of Ultos set as well cause frankly i’m tired of using it.

-I am not at my terminal so can’t really check it out yet. My ring and amulet augments are the ones from Devil’s Crossing that gives 20% damage, 2% OA & DA

-Weapon Augment is Potent Outcast’s Wrath

-I’ll let you know about stat distribution later on, i’m positive i didn’t invest anything to physique

-Most importantly Arcblade is more cooler than Axe
