I’m not entirely sure if the aetherial corpse wagon spawn points are randomised, but it seems the North/East/South wagon quest checkboxes are all mixed up.
In my latest playthrough:
Destroying a Southern wagon checked the North wagon checkbox
Destroying a Northern wagon checked the East wagon checkbox
Destroying an Eastern wagon checked the South wagon checkbox
main issue the people seem to have with these types of things are taking “general directions” a bit too literal/as strict gps coords, and sometimes combined with assuming where the centre of the zone is as guidance vs maybe where the quest was obtained
edit… change south for West since that seems to be the correct ingame quest name/direction
oops, i noticed that
same deal tho in terms of map reference
even if a wagon is north east it’s still technically east etc, likewise with the north one spawning in the middle of the map, even tho directionally it seems like you’re going east it’s still in the northern part of the map
SW wagon is also technically south
Um, not sure how the second version is “desired”. The east wagons are clearly south in your example.
Reality is, stuff sometimes shifts around during development, so things didn’t end up perfectly cardinal.
South wagons are towards the bottom. North wagon ended up more north/west though. The east wagons are absolutely east, but one of its position does end up more north than the others. Oh well.
The second version is desired because firstly the Northernmost wagon is actually North. Then, the two wagons South of the Northernmost wagon could be either South or East. It would then make sense for the one on the right to be East.
Here’s a scenario I’m envisioning: The player exits the sewer then destroys the wagon immediately to the Northeast of the sewer exit, assuming it spawns there. That would presently be a “North” wagon. But, if that’s the North wagon, then the South wagon ought to be South of that. But going South of the “North” wagon would lead essentially back to the sewer exit. That’s not intuitive.
I understand if there aren’t dev resources to fix this problem but an acknowledgement that there is some problem is good enough for me.
since you have to go around and south still/even on a static map with no roads blocking, there is no way the south wagon are not in a southern direction from the north, since they are both located below the 2 north spawns “as is”/they are the lowest spawning wagons of all
but player being forced to go north to traverse the otherside of the map, and then south, would just in its current state emphasize that north/south difference even more
the only one at present that might be slightly puzzling is the NE wagon, while technically east, it’s also so very north, and easily accidentally encountered before the centre north wagon spawn
there is in no way any of the souther spawn could change that wouldn’t make it more confusing, since they are the south spawns already, and the only spawns that are even in the southern parts of the map
Not trying to nitpick here out of defending the existing/saying i agree with devs maplayouts and quest description locations(lord knows that many are off or worse than this), but because this particular example makes no sense in “fixing” it
