Albrecht's Aether Ray

Sry guys i originaly postet this in the wrong section Classes, Skills and Builds…so i thought ill repost it here instead…plz dont kill me.

Hi every1:-)

First of all…(sry im late…was busy beatin the shit out of AoM mobs but here we go) Crate, Zantai, Grava and everyone, thank u for that master piece of art and work, if i had the resources i would purchase a 1000 copis coz i want a second expansion:-)But beautiful flowers tend to have thorns…AoM has it problems and im here to state one of the problmes cuz i feel like its getting worse and worse.

“AAR”
Im a huge fan of laserbeams in general…but they usualy have downsides in games like GD, i know all that…but at this point i feel like the skill is at the negative climax…it cant get much worse. The AoM mob design with those nasty chainstuns and cc immunitys ans so on, completly shits on skills like AAR, especially on AAR cuz it lack any kind of legit leech mechanichs. Aside from that, obviously it has no aoe by being a beam and u have to STAND there and channel, wich is cool. But why get rid of cool and imo necessary aoe procs on items like pulsating shard and aetherreach…hehe wtf guys. I was relying on those two cuz AETHER ray has no set backing it up, which is also…like…wtf. And even CHAOS ray set, does not realy back the skill up, it still lacks aoe procs, has even less then the aether version, and lets be honest…the set skill is useless to long cd, considering how nasty AoM mobs are with those dots, chainstuns, cc immuns and just dmg in general, dmg reduction of the seal becomes a joke…cuz in base game it was actualy ok. Now…i get that not every classcombo should be able to clear crucible content or kill celestials and stuff but im talking about a skill not a class. When i think about AAR in crucible or on Mog im like…wtf that content is nonexisting for me, which is a shame. Dmg output was cool in base game…i mean i could burst down valdaran in like 3-5 sec, but now? lol I cant even think about meeting my old friend CUPAcabra out there his breath alone just molests my char. I understand that cupa and co are pretty much endgame so its totaly cool but the thing is with my blademaster plaguemaster witchblade or whatever i can destroy cupa and co with a little theorycraft and timeinvest.
So…right now it looks like this…AAR chars cant realy leech/survive/sustain, they have a ton of downsides of the skill mechanics itself, the dont realy have aoe dmg, they cant do some of the coolest content in the game and the coolest part is, in AOM they dont even have the single target dmg cuz 200k sheet is apparently not enough to burst cupa and friends down before they molest u…compare it with dreegs evil eye which has no mechanical downsides like aar…it gets like LOL damagewise. Plz crate just delete the skill already kappa^^
Im trying to save my aar guy by sharing my expirience and thoughts to real gods of grim dawn, to you guys. So here are my suggestions:

Boost the effective dmg output of aar by making the fire portion deal same dmg as aether or just remove fire and double the aether, bring back those awsome item procs and add an aether % dmg on the warlock set pieces, reduce the cd of the set skill and make it like an aura with stun freeze etc immuns…implement a leech mechanic to “desintegration” vitality damage portion or weapondamage, or add a significant OA buff to the skill itself.
Or maybe add a +/-5meter radius sphere around the char with same dmg stats like the beam itself when channeling the ray. Or maybe an aura component tha constantly deals aether dmg around the char.
An internal cd on mob cc and dmg tweeks in general would directley boost surviveability of aar chars and even all other classes/skills, cuz honestley i feel like those chainstuns etc are getting retarded at this point…

Oh btw just delete every cc skill in every class/tree kappa^^, cuz why not? I mean shits not working on bosses and some trash mob…and rest of the trash is irrelevant at this point…they just die passively.
Maybe improve devotions like arcane bomb, speer of the heavens…like whats up with lightning dmg on all the main aether themed devotions when most if not all aether skills have fire portion on them? I feel like speer of the heavens should stun bosses…I have tons of ideas when it comes to aar but i feel like this wall of text is already to massive so i leave it be for now:-)

You are right. ARR should get a buff of sorts and Crate seems to hate CC, two problems which I feel Crate should address the next time they are doing some balancing.

I disagree on the AoE department. Any AAR build should have at least OFF and Devastation, even at just 1 point with skill boni they help tremendously, certainly more than those two points being spend on some passive which gives you an entirely negligible bonus.

It does make sense that AAR lacks AE. It only has 2 skills to spend points in, but it does lack any survival mechanism, and the damage doesn’t scale as well as weapon user builds. Pure casters in general have this issue.

Maybe i wasnt clear the first time but ill try to clarify it anyways. The aoe suggestion in my original post should be considert relevant IF crate dont want to significantly boost effective dmg output of aar, aoe itself is not an issue. What i mean by that is not just boost the numbers that would be OP in many cases…like i sad, imo specific things should be done with the dmg types on the skill itself and on aether themed devotions to increase its effective dmg.

Pure casters used to have these general issues…AoM changed that with adding weapon dmg to replicating missile for example and even if it wasnt the case u cant compare PRM with AAR or any other NOT channeling skill cuz they will be allways easier to sustain. However AAR is just fucked as of now…u can fuck with devotions and your gear and whatever, nothing will keep u alive in high end content…u just cant counter the dmg u take without some form of constant leech+regen+heals or a immense dmg buff…converting some of the vit dmg portion into life on desintegration would solve that issue.
