am I doing something wrong or is my editor broken?

So I’ve opened up the tutorial mod in the world editor to have a look at it but when I hit ok nothing is happening.
Am I doing something wrong or what?

I have unzipped the Modding tutorial into the mods folder and tha tis how I am here (in the screen shot), reading through the provided modding guide that is all that is required and I can’t seem to find the answer in of of the guides the stickied thread

Have you extracted game database? (If yes - then its really something wrong :frowning: )

Have u tried build it first?

I thought you only needed to extract the game database when creating a new mod, you have to do it for the tutorial mod provided? I thought everything it used was already in there and only needed to extract the game database to add stuff to it?

Well trying to extract the files it comes up with this:

Error 0xc0000005 executing command: ‘archivetool.exe “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\Extracted files\database\database.arz” -database “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\mods\database”’
Failed to open archive file C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\Extracted files\database emplates.arc.
Error 0xffffffff executing command: ‘archivetool.exe “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\Extracted files\database emplates.arc” -extract “C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Grim Dawn\mods\database”’

Extract via Asset Manager. Tools > Extract Game Files…
And make sure that you have database.arz and templates.arc in the Grim Dawn\database folder (you are supposed to because game wont work without them).

Yeah that’s what I did and the error message that I put in last post happened

Why don’t you try reverting the paths from asset manager to defaults, and then re-extract to the default location?

I think it’s the safest course of action.

Oh, and try to build the mod just in case, as alexei suggested!

Resetting the extraction to default site has actually got it extracting the files now, thanks hopefully when it finishes the world editor will work properly and I can actually have a look and the tutorial mod provided and then hopefully come up and make one of my own

Edit: Nope didn’t fix it the tools don’t think it even exists and when I re-extract still doesn’t show up
I try making a new mod from scratch name it and then build and close the app and then when I reopen the app it’s as if I never started a mod
Either I’m just too stupid and missing something although I followed guide to the letter or there’s something wrong with my tools
Either way I give up :frowning:

Don’t give up so easily, it’s not like you’ll have to do this every day. You set it up once and that’s it.

After extraction, you wouldn’t happen to hit “build” without a mod selected, right?

If you feel that you’ve made a mess, verify game cache through steam and start over. Always run as admin etc. Can you confirm that the asset manager creates the required folder when you create a new mod? It might be a user permissions issue in the end?

Right-click your mod folder, remove read only. Should work.

Yep it has definitely made a relevant folder but it can’t see it when I try reopening it.
Running as admin so can’t be user issue

It already has read only removed
