I’ve been following this high quality remake of the original Game Boy game for a good long while now, having played the demo. It’s good to see it finally released for all to enjoy.
Another Metroid 2 Remake, or AM2R is a free game which has things such as items from other 2D Metroid as well as gameplay in the vein of Metroid Zero Mission. My words really can’t do this game justice.
Edit: Unfortunately, the link to the download is down. Nintendo just don’t like the idea of fans celebrating with a remake of one of their older games. However searching for it will also lead to download links, as well.
Not bad, the joypad control needs a bit of fine tuning, and when going through the options menu, no background to selected items. otherwise, not bad at all.
There’s a sub-reddit that’s dedicated. Punching AM2R in Reddit’s search will take you there, where there are links which update regularly with links to it. Then you too can enjoy what many people love about this remake.
I’m really getting into the game, oh yes a small tip,
When you get the run boost ability, that allows you to run through stuff, in that general area, there are a couple of run blocks high up that seems impossible to get too, to get to the missile tank, you run at the bottom till full speed, then crouch, that will make the char flash, you jump up onto the ledge then press jump that powers you upwards towards the two run blocks. I watched a video that showed me how, but the comments page said how to achieve this. some things aren’t always obvious.
Still have a lot to find and explore, but slowly getting there, so overall, really nice game.
So it’s M2 remade kind of like Metroid: Zero Mission is the first Metroid remade with all the more modern powerups and graphics? If so, count me in. This might call for a M:ZM, AM2R, and Super Metroid trilogy playthrough.
this is a really good game, some of the puzzles are bloody annoying to do, but still really fun game to play, and a controller is recommended. Give this a shot, it won’t disappoint.
Looks like Nintendo has killed the project outright, bastards, sure, it’s their IP, but seriously, they really should allow fan made content, it’s a shame, as the guy put a lot of effort into this.
There’s some folks positing that they removed a number of free, fan-made games, because of sites like GameJolt, where game authors profit off ad-sharing revenue.
For those who have not tried the game out, go do it…now!
It is not some knockoff kid modding a sprite or doing minor editing, this is a full fledged, over the topped, polished remake of the original gameboy “Metroid II - The Retrun of Samus”. The quality feels very retail made by nintendo. You will need a gamepad to enjoy it. It is for PC, unzip and run the execution to play.
I caught on late with this project but I am now enjoying it. Nintendo stepped in to stop the project but he said he will still work on it privately to fix bugs, etc.
Yeah its a good game, you just need to get used to the controls.
Also if you like this game, another game I would HIGHLY recommend is Axiom Verge, done by one man dev, music, art, programming. I think the game is miles betterbut worth checking out as well. as you can pick up that game on steam.
there are some amazing individuals out there, who can make awesome games like these.
I played this a lot on my Gameboy back in the day, but I was hoping the youtube video on their website was a gameplay video. Unfortunately, it’s just a showcase for the music.
