G 'evening, everyone! Been lurking around the forums for a pretty long time now, watching the progress of the game, so I figured I might as well “officially” join in.
Like most of you I’m a fan of Action-RPGs in general, and Titan Quest in particular. It might very well be my favourite game on PC overall, and there’s hardly any other game I played as much as TQ without growing tired of it.
I like what I’ve seen of Grim Dawn so far, as well. The new setting/theme seems fun to me, and if the gameplay and quality is going to be anything like TQ, then I think we have ourselves a winner here.
I really enjoy the music too - Been listening to the whole set of tracks several times now, while working on the computer. Of course, I imagine it will be far more effective as part of the final product.
Anyhow, to add some more actual content to this post - Here are five of my favourite/ least favourite aspects of Titan Quest.
What I liked:
-> The dual-mastery system, with its many combinations; perhaps the single biggest motivation to complete the game more than once.
-> The varied and wonderfully designed environments and monsters.
-> Tons of fun and well-designed loot.
-> The over-the-top ragdoll-physics!
-> The fact that they copied many great elements from the Diablo series - but made sure not to copy most of its bad aspects.
What I disliked:
-> The player characters were rather generic, and there was little that could be done to change their appearance ( aside from equipment ).
-> For a game based on Greek Mythology, it was a shame that the Olympians made little to no appearance.
-> Not enough storage space for loot! At least it was much better than Diablo II, but I still ended up creating several “mule” characters, because I hate having to sell uniques/ sets or otherwise rare items.
-> The lack of blood/ hit effects. This actually isn’t something that bothered me much, personally, but I can see how some blood FX and an overall darker style might have attracted more players, in particular the Diablo crowd.
-> … also, the “Tower of Judgement”.
Well, that’s it from me - Feel free to add your own thoughts on TQ.
