Another why did he die question!

Sorry for that, but a instant death troubles me. This moment when you play well for hours over hours and then suddenly bang, you died. It was in these Steps of torment if I call it right, I´m not english at all…a big open room and only some living bones around some corners, I remember a storm caller and one with these violett rays that flows like a snowball, only trash mobs no floating star or skull…so I went in and bang. I tried these Grim Dawn Tools to find evidence of his weakness, but I´m far away of understand what´s happening. Nearly all resistences on 80% except physis, yes electro was only 66 but that should be much enough. And I thought my stars could save me…
Sorry for the long text, you just wanna look yourself:

was it on Normal/Veteran, Elite or Ultimate?

It was on elite.

then i would guess a combination of low hp, armour absorb
To me atleast, 7k hp for Elite in skeleton key dungeon seems/feels like it would be, less than pleasant, also with just 80% absorb.
Add to that at a glance your healing seems like it could be low, relying mainly on Aegis, with cadence less than ideal there to fast AA lifesteal back. Personally would use Righteous Fervor and get smash too since you’re using shield.
I don’t remember if there are any debuffers left in SoT? iirc monstrosities got their RR removed from blade trap, but not sure about other champs/heroes. The elemental traps can atleast still hurt sometimes too
All that combined seems like it could potentially punch one down there.

*also assuming you didnt’ accidentally spawn Mossi and ate a giant wave attack

side note would be stuff like no resilience, no field command, no overguard/bunch of stuff you could take and benefit from, specially with a shield
Stuff like Trample/Boar devo also isn’t great on Fighting Spirit because that means 50% of the time you can’t even trigger it, so 5/10secs you’re just wasting the entire thing
**not really related to quick/“insta” deaths, other than some of the defensives ofc could help/have helped perhaps

I had similar issues yesterday, though my char had 12-13k hp, so I didn’t die. If you find out what hits so hard with these skeletons, let me know  I’m thinking it’s some critical hit with physical damage, maybe from one of the archers or so.

Mine was something like this: Trickster, Level 60 (GD 1.2.1.3) - Grim Dawn Build Calculator
In Ultimate, I got hit for 7.8k damage somehow. Since resists are fine I figured it has to be some physical thing. Your characters resists seem similar, so probably same issue. Though you do have turtle, so that should have helped?

knights had their dmg on blade arc dialed up

It’s probably this guy.
His Blade Arc hits for 2k base, multiplied by roughly x4 from cunning and his weapon.

If you have 7k HP and 1.3k armor with almost no physical resist, he could possibly one-tap you.

Pretty sure this guy is also what makes Zantarin so dangerous, if you don’t kill him fast *
(* nvm it seems to mostly be Zantarin’s archers)

Oof, ok. Thanks! I tried to look at these guys yesterday, but somehow I didn’t notice the 2k damage  But yeah makes sense, cause after it happens I also have a bleeding dot.

Level 65 Soldiers should have almost double both of those numbers. Should also have at least 12/12 War Cry for RTD.

Cunning dump (on an acid build? Why?), almost no defensive skills, 26 levels old armour, no RTD, no health, uncapped armour absorption… Devotions look OK at least.

The reason OP died was that he built a glass cannon and then got hit.

What means cunning dump, english is not my first language. I can translate it with a translator but I don´t get a clue out of it.

cunning attribute, for char point investment

Cunning dump means putting all your attribute points into the Cunning stat, but none into Physique or Spirit

A cunning dump is usually only done for builds that deal Physical/Trauma or Pierce or Bleeding damage, because Cunning boosts those damage types.

But if your build deals Acid damage (which is a magical damage type), you should do a Spirit dump instead, that should increase your damage significantly.

Somebody correct me, if I am wrong, but retaliation damage does not benefit from spirit, I think. (Neither from cunning)

not anymore/after it got fixed no
only benefit is then the usual indirect OA/HP/regen

hmm can’t find the patch notes for it, but i’m sure it happened at some point
tagging @KingRed_424 since he probably knows for certain either way

my bad, didn’t realize it’s a retal build. I just read Paikis’ mention of acid dmg.

In that case, @Jareika should probably do a Physique dump instead.
