Any possibility of a Shifter/Beastmaster class in the future?

I am a newb to Grim Dawn but the idea of a shapeshifter class would be super appealing to me and other people I know. Does anyone else support this idea?

Sadly not possible/too hard to implement due to engine limitations.

I’m actually curious, what are these engine limitations. Why D2 could do it or TL2 (Running wolf berzerker skill)

Yes, if anyone knows what engine limitations are present, it would be interesting to know. Are there any plans to release any other classes in the future btw?

The engine limitations are that it can’t do what people want out of a shape shifter class. :slight_smile:

If I’m understanding what it is people want out of a shapeshifter class, the engine can’t support a character morphing into some other thing, i.e. changing of skill trees, form etc.

As mentioned before, this has been asked for before and the devs have stated it wont happen because of engine limitations.

Solution seems to be Grim Dawn 2 on new engine. We keep the current masteries though.

Since Crate has had nothing but one extended vacation after another I am sure we can expect this post haste.

Of the three games here only DII has actual transformation. DII having transformation is the result of higher budget than TQ (whose engine crate uses) and Torchlight II

Torchlight II had some kind of transformation mod that got implemented way after Guts editor got released but the game itself has no transformation skill.

The berserker skill is more and effect like Shadow Strike in this game. If you look at SS it appears as though your character is teleporting but in truth you’re character model has been made invisible. The berserker skill is essentially the same, during movement your character is surrounded by a wolf like aura and your character model is made invisible.
Even the quest to kill the Werewolf Boss, it appears he transforms into a giant werewolf but in truth the human model is “deleted” and replaced with a Werewolf model

To add to this a shapeshifter can be implemented but it’d require them to re-write a bunch of the engine’s code to implement this thing
Which will require a lot of time and effort (and money)

When you kill Kreig, Moose, Karroz, Loghorrean etc. their character model is deleted and replaced with a different one
In Log this is happens each time you bring down its HP to a certain level and happens a total of three times. So technically the Loghorrean you face at the start of the battle is different from the one you kill at the end of the fight

If by post haste, you mean a couple of years minimum, I think we’re on track.
