Hi forum dwellers, I was levelling a character and a chillblood’s carcass dropped (https://www.grimtools.com/db/items/14229). The shield seems cool and I love the bone themed stuff, including the bone harvest skill. I was wondering, has anyone ever made a necro build with this particular shield? I was trying to make one but honestly I don’t even know where to start. Reaper comes to mind but nightblade has 0 shield support.
Anyway if anyone had any ideas or tips I’d be very gratefull

Wow thanks a ton! The dual wield looks cool, but I really want to use that shield! I’m gonna give a very thorough look at these. I think I’m only missing one of the rings and the belt MI so it’s farming time!

I’d change some stuff for thematic reasons in Valinov’s build though even if they were less optimized this way
For example RE doesn’t really imo suit such a build visually, Omen is better.
Also has Ultos Lightning devo and Chain Lightning from compoonent (not sure if for using it or just for stats).
Imo Lightning effects don’t suit cold builds very well so I’d change devo and for component skill use Chillspikes for example.
Well, I had this theorycrafted for the sake of suggestion to buff this shield a bit. It’s vitality-cold though.
I am already changing a bit here and there. I want to have it be good enough to play around and a bit on shattered realm, but I’m really shooting more for theme here! Thanks for the suggestion on Ill Omen, I kind of forget about that skill and it’s not that bad! Also i’m not a big fan of RE…
Thanks for sharing, I’m going to take a look at it but I prefer the cold theme and I’m not a big fan of morgoneth, dunno why
Yeah it has higher damage reduction value in general
and also it spreads crazily amongst enemies so it’s really fun
to bind something like Whirlpool / Tsunami / Elemental Storm to it
RE’s still optimal more often that not but Omen is definitely not bad.
Me and a few others on the discord tried brainstorming around that Shield sometime ago and came up short. Dreadweaver is getting some buffs next update and it’s possible Chillblood Carcass is too so you might want to hold your breath until then

It often saddens me that I can’t wear cool shield illusions because I’m playing casters with off-hands or 2h weapons 99.99% the time

I kinda get what you’re saying… I like shields a lot too and only two of my characters use shields! The others are either dual wielding or two handed! When the chillblood dropped I was levelling a second bone harvest character (oppressor to use bonemonger, and already had a reaper with soulrend) and I thought that it was the best opportunitty to use one of my favourite skills with a weapon type that I love!
The ghostly shield you showed is pretty cool! I think I never had one drop for me. I only have the green spectral one.
