I was thinking about builds and was wanting to make a melee build where I could run in and cook things with Callidors Tempest, and then smash heroes with a 2h attack. This led me to the idea of changing the skill transmute “wrath of agrivix”. I thought it would be cool if it changed the skill to:
Your tempest can be freely cast without an action turn, but requires a shield or 2h melee weapon. 50% of X dmg is converted to lightning.
I thought this would make for an interesting change to a druid or battle mage. Having this require the shield or 2h weapon stops you from equipping devastation so that the balance should be pretty well preserved.
I don’t understand what is going on. Are you trying to remove the casting time by removing the “Action turn?” That will not work. Every single skill has a cast time of some sort.
As for the actual mechanic, I do not think it will be good. Both Battlemage and Druid have no way to reduce lightning resistance, this will more likely be in a Sorcerer setup if anything. Also, if you are making it able to go off without a cast time, it will still retain the current CD on the transmuter, right?
Why can’t druid or battlemage lower lightning resists?
Wind Devil and Aether Bomb both lower Lightning Resists, they can also use Viper since he wants to use a 2H. If you don’t like wind devil then you can use Elemental Storm or Acid Spray.
I was just trying to make it act like explosive blast from D3. Basically, you can move and attack with another skill. Still casts with your cast speed, but it doesn’t stop you from running or swinging your weapon.
