I got my first character to level 100 last night in Ultimate - woo hoo - feels good even though I haven’t completed on Ultimate level yet. There is still plenty of things I haven’t done (like farming for components and crafting some uber gear) so I’m far from ready to “retire” (and my character can certainly do with many tweaks to hit harder and be less squishy).
Just wondering - once you reach this level do you continue gain attribute and skill points for finishing the major quest items at all or does everything stop accumulating (I completed a few quests which obviously no longer gave me XP) ?
I’m just here to say Congratulations on hitting 100!! It took me like a year and a half of playing before I was able to do that, back in 2016/early 2017
Thanks. It would probably have taken me a lot longer than it did but like most people I find i have quite a bit of time to fill in these days. Can’t think of a better game to use the hours on
Yeah this game is awesome man, and it’s good you’re a part of the forums too. I owned the game for about 2-3 years or so before I discovered these forums, so i missed a LOT of great stuff. Cool people, forums legends, useful information that would’ve helped me hit 100 way quicker lol.
How long have you been playing? And how much of the game content have you seen so far?
Had the game since early 2019 but was playing another game till I finally lost patience and flipped to GD “full time” for the past 6 months or so. The other game taught me the benefits of active engagement in forums and leveraging utilities. GDT, GI, the rainbow mod, gd-edit and GD Defiler should be standard tools for veteran or new players alike.
Hard to say how much content I’ve covered. Completed all the shrines, one-shots and major quests in veteran ( skipped normal) mode. Not much points doing them again in higher difficulty except the shrines you have to fight monsters for. Always do totems too ! Have at least half or more of most achievements. Lots of the “secret” quests only seem to appear in Ultimate mode.
The other good thing about this game is there is no need to rush to complete anything. Odd other games are considered more the leader in this genre. Maybe because online is not really the focus of this one (I’m good with that. Prefer solo). No game is perfect but this feels far more polished.
It just wasn’t my cup of tea anymore, let’s leave it at that. I’m glad Grim Dawn is such an excellent alternate though. It will take something extraordinary to lure me away from GD !
Lol damn, must have been downright terrible to cause you to not mention its name! Well, yeah. GD is fantastic man. I wish I could experience it for the first time all over again. SO many different build possibilities to play around with.
