Armor must giving % to Phys Prot (Suspend!)

Yeah that internal trauma can be really brutal, especially for melee builds. It sounds like you’re taking reflected damage or some kind of retaliation effect. Try checking enemy modifiers before engaging, some of them punish close combat a lot.

It’s not so easy to do if the mob is in a crowd, and I’m charging into it with a Charge.

Yes, there are Materials and Devotions to solve this, but they use limited points and an item upgrade slot.

If Phis Protection were dependent on the amount of armor on a character, it would make life much easier.

If armor doesn’t protect against piercing damage except for materials, then Physical armor could protect, and those without armor can use materials.

Heavy Armor has many defense stats that require attention (Toxic, Bleeding, Ether), and it seems logical to look for a separate type of protection.

Phys is not only very rare, but also in small quantities.

I always put two titan plating components (in head and chest armor) and take two constellations (either Owl, Crane or Lotus), reaching over 100% reflected damage resistance, so I can stop worrying about this problem. To me it doesn’t look like a big sacrifice of devotion points and component slots for absolute peace of mind during gameplay.

What a problem for changing the drop rate of this parameter or increasing the amount of protection from the item?

After leveling my character up to level 100 and playing entirely on Absolute, I came to the following conclusions:

  1. Devotion’s (Owl, Lotus, Solemn Watcher, Sailor’s Guide = 60%) are essential for Reflect Res (Autumn Boar, Aeon Hour’sGlass, Yugol, Crane - they weren’t suitable). Isn’t very flexible! Most constellations will be chosen constantly, but given the large number of builds, this isn’t important;
  2. To counter periodic damage such as Internal Trauma, you need to have sufficient regeneration or some form of cleansing, like Ulo the Keeper of the Water;
  3. Titan Shield, with 33% bonus to 60% +15% Physical Prot base Reflect Res it’s sufficient for my character, but I’ll have to test it out in ranged combat.

I think that global or periodic changes to the armor are not required.
I don’t know how this will work against physical mages and marksmen. I’ll get back to the topic once I play them.

One more thing I’ve noticed is that all reflective enemies alternate between giving back reflected damage and not giving it. They usually have a glowing yellow aura that informs you when they’re giving reflected damage back to you. If you really can’t upgrade your reflected damage resistance (which shouldn’t be an issue because I do it for all my builds, with minimal loss), you should just keep an eye out for the reflecting enemies and attack them only when they don’t have their aura active. There is a large enough period of time when you can attack them without any problems and it’s especially a good strategy in early game, when you don’t have reflected damage resistances yet.

As far as I understand, the reverse damage only works with physical attacks (including ranged combat!)

It’s not easy to see the aura in a very large crowd. It might be a good idea to have different levels of impact depending on the mob’s rarity, so that the effect on the crowd is more balanced.

No, all damage is reflected back. People usually mention that you should only bother to defend yourself against reflected damage if you deal physical damage, because your own physical resistance is low, compared to the rest. But this is something I disagree with and I think any damage not taken, no matter how small, is welcome. Especially if your build aims to have the highest possible damage, which would mean that the damage reflected back is also proportional to it.

I agree and that’s why you have more peace of mind upgrading your reflected damage resistance. But in early game the crowds that have reflective enemies are usually smaller and you should make an extra effort to spot them and attack only when they have their aura down. Also, going as fast as possible for the constellations with reflected damage resistance would help (like Owl, Lotus or Crane).
