Aspect of Beronath Skill Needs To Act As A Proper AA Replacer

Why?

Pretty simple, it only offers 4 OS max, so even as an proper AA it wouldn’t be OP and more importantly it would finally provide an AA replacer that isn’t Beronath’s Fury and so has more use for a massive variety of builds that don’t have access to an AA skill.

It’s also a major pain to craft the right one, but if it means dropping the AoE that’s all good as far as I’m concerned for balance. I just want to be able to use my WPS and this relic. Mainly because Single RR combinations are a bit hamstrung in the current FoA meta and going with Berserker is potential pain and suffering as a result. And besides, we’ve needed another universal, mastery neutral AA replacer for years now.

I do see some build potential for it though as it stands, supporting stuff like Grenado/Canister Bomb etc via a 2-hander, but yeah, it feels way too restrictive otherwise due to not being able to proc WPS.

This or give us any “ascended” low-lvl relic with a universal DAR. Many acid, vit, pierce, sometimes phys and ele builds struggle w/o proper AA, cuz bero strikes suck and you have little to no alternatives to it.

It feels way too restrictive as a DAR because that’s not the intended use case?
Is Reaping Arc too restrictive? Is Primal Strike?
Just 4 build agnostic Onslaught charges on a generic decent +1 relic is already a massive 60% TDM for Cooldown based builds that can use it as a filler.

I’d rather see an actual DAR on a stronger relic (without the +1 skills). An evolution of Mistborn Talisman.

Though interestingly it now provides two O-Stacks, which is weird, but using it on my current Reaper Vit RoS + WPS build and it doesn’t feel bad anymore.

I believe this thought process comes from the fact that the skill’s damage is comparable to that of actual DAR skills.

Most DAR skills from masteries deal ~180% WD. While Aspect of Beronath is dealing 170% WD which is pretty close (While you can forgive a slight drop on account of not needing eleventy billion skill points to upgrade it like a mastery DAR)

In comparison to things like Reaping Arc which does 210% WD (Which is ironically how much Onslaught does and Onslaught can also itemise for cleave too…) or Oblivion’s 125% WD (Where it has a lot more flat damage and of course, giga range) which feel more distinct to a DAR.

Of course, actual item granted DAR’s are much lower damage. Being 130-150% WD (The exception being Runic Bolts which is 207% WD) which is to offset the lack of skill points they require (And thus give an actual reason to build around a mastery DAR)

That said… Honestly, just removing the conversion from Shard of Beronath would be fine. That conversion is what makes Beronath’s Fury awkward for some builds.

Though I wouldn’t be opposed if they decide to add a new component or relic that gives a new generic DAR that avoids any mastery specificity or awkward innate conversions (Though such a thing likely would just make Shard of Beronath obsolete even in elemental builds because the tri-element conversion really sucks outside exactly tri-element builds)

Beronath Howl is onslaught engine first and damage dealing ability second, it fits that one specific niche. Would probably do too much if it was also a DAR.

With Shard they decided to try and get some of both worlds - just 2 stacks but the ceiling is higher due to working with WPS. Even then, realistically 2 stacks is nothing to scoff at. I find it funny that I’m considering using Bero Shard over Runebinder granted DAR on an actual Runebinder build.

I agree about the awkward conversion on shard, damage agnostic relic would mostly solve this for builds that can’t go anything else though.

Eh, that’s why I said the AoE could be removed for balancing this as a proper DAR that worked with WPS.

Anyhow, I do agree we’ve been needing a mastery agnostic DAR for over a decade now and Beronath’s Howl could work very well for it. Though for the moment, I’m probably just going to use Beronath’s Fury unless I need the O-Stacks Howl’s DAR provides.

Fun Fact - The DAR Beronath’s Howl can be used with Were forms, just tried it with a Wereraven Primal Strike build :3

It makes PS so damn STRONK

Well, yeah. Since it’s not an actual DAR.

It’s just a spammable ability that happens to deal about the same WD% as a DAR.

Aye. Though there are several items and set bonuses that provide Onslaught stacks to Feral Claws too.

+4 on Mythical Whisper of Secrets
+3 on Gruldir’s Tainted Cleaver (Can be dual wielded for +6)
+4 on Talisman of Fenris
+3 on Lagoth’Ak’s Bloodbinding

For a potential of a whopping 17 stacks (Of course, damage type support would be a total mess if using all of them and high Onslaught stack count is less useful due to how frequently you use CD skills vs how long it takes to build up unless you get lucky with not-spending-stacks procs)

Yeap, I’ve been messing around with a non-Were Cold PS build and I’ve found I get a faster PS cooldown with my gear choices than I get to max O-Stacks, so I’ve settled on 9 as my max for firing off PS.

Though Wereraven has the advantage of Everwinter boosting damage, so they feel kinda even. |

Anyhow, Werewolf is kinda nutty in that way, where as Wereraven has no MI’s that generate O-Stacks for it’s skills, only able to latch onto other skills for them. Which is probably why Wereraven builds are thin on the ground :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, there’s Decree of Aldritch that gives Ice Talons +3 stacks (Can be dual wielded for +6)

Though the big thing is that Recklessness is WAY more enticing than Everwinter. Huge global DA shred vs %damage is not particularly even.

Also, DoA locks you into Aether. Which Berserker has 0 support for.

If new DAR is needed than it can be on a relic and that relic should not have +1 to all skills. Beronath Relic has a different purpose than to be a standard DAR.
