I am a little confused on this, I have most of it down, but a few things I don’t.
I have a Pyromancer firestrike who uses duel guns. Now my character has 10%/15% listed under life leech. 10% from global devotions, and 5% from off hand gun.
Guns are not melee weapons, does it matter? What am I getting 10% or 15%? My firestrike damage is… Ok lets just say it’s 1000= I get 100 or 150 leech per attack?
I have 14 fire strike, 2 exp. strike= 128% weapons damage it’s capped at 100% correct, for the purpose of Acth?
Lastly is curiosity question. What if I had say Dreegs evil eye with 12/12 in blood burst it says 15% weapon damage modifer. How can I get this up to 100%, or can I? I know there was a nerf to this 9/10 months ago, involving using other skills, and/or gear.
Oops forgot anyone know what kind of resists the top bosses have to this?
You would get 10% ADCtH from your mainhand weapon and 15% from your offhand weapon. Dualwield guns have about a 50% chance to use each weapon, disregarding procs.
You can’t increase % Weapon Damage on skills except by leveling them further. Eventually, you’ll max out a skill, and that is indeed all you can do.
What’s ‘this’? If you’re referring to life leech, many bosses in Ultimate have around 60-90% resistance to it, with a couple (not many) being fully immune.
On question 3, if the critters name is purple (story boss) or red (nemesis), they’re likely immune to both life leech and attack damage to health. Good rule of thumb.
Not true, as I stated above. All Nemeses can be life leeched from, and there are very few bosses with immunity (Bane’Gargoth, in the Obsidian Throne, is one). They just tend to have very high resistance.
90% resistance or immunity in practice makes very little difference. I don’t read the database, just my observations. Either way, life leech is so rare and so unsupported outside of a few devotion nodes, it barely matters. And nemesis and such are immune to adcth, which is the one that matters.
Sorry, but that’s just wrong. As Ceno already stated, Nemesis aren’t immune to ADCTH. Most of the melee builds out there rely heavily on that mechanic, especially vs Nemesis and Bosses. Their ~90% resistance is no major problem with enough damage dealt.
Some builds can even stack up to 25+% ADCTH, which makes them highly sustainable vs any enemy.
Different skills have different %weapon damage on them. Some have mere 10-15% (and cant get much higher), and some have 450% or even more.
Bosses in Ultimate are resistant to ADCTH (that’s how healing from damage dealt is colled here), but most arent immune to it. Some are, however (for example, Zantarin the Immortal). But often, those nosses sumon trash, that isnt immone to ADCTH.
Also do note, that only Weapon Damage can use ADCTH from items/passives. Fire Strike and its modifiers add extra Fire, Physical, Lightning and Chaos damage as well - but all that “extra” damage is NOT Weapon Damage, and ADCTH doesnt work from it.
Ceno- Sorry for using the word leech, I meant life steal.
MortalKombat- Hmm, Adcth is from the devotion tree, ahh reverent, and ghoul. I already upgraded that gun, so I lost that 5% on the weapon. Life steal only works on the weapon damage, not the fire strike damage?
Weapon damage 877-1242 while FS is 3011-4027, and ya fire is about 60% of it. rest is in pierce, cold physical etc. Now it’s 10% life steal total.
Ok now I am confused again… Is weapon damage only the L1 skill auto attack damage, or what is it?
Weapon Damage is any skill or attack that has % Weapon Damage on it, regardless of where you put it on your hotbar.
Phantasmal Blades, Dreegs Evil Eye, Fire Strike, Forcewave, Callidor’s Tempest, Savagery all have a % Weapon Damage stat (as do other skills) that will make use of lifesteal.
And “lifesteal” (ADCTH) will work only from that %weapon damage part of skill (true for all skills). Flat damage added by skill itself is Skill Damage, it will increase your damage dealt by skill, but you wont regain HP from it.
Ok now I am confused again… Is weapon damage only the L1 skill auto attack damage, or what is it?
100% Weapon Damage is dealt by normal attack, yes. If skill has another value, consider it “scaled” proportionally.
Fire Strike deals a bit more Weapon Damage that Normal Attack, but most of its damage comes from Skill Damage, added by Fire Strike, Explosive Strike, Static Strike and Brimstone. Pistols have very poor base Weapon Damage, so unless you drastically increase it with some items/buffs, it will remain poor and your ADCTH wont have high impact.
You can get Abomination constellation, for example. Or items like Blood Sigil of Chton…
Ok so no matter were, or how the actd final number is gotten, it’s always from weapon damage number stated on the character. It’s never the actual skill being used damage number. IE Fire Strike, Savagery etc., correct? My numbers from above post for WD, and FS, come from WD?
Part that looped me is if I have a life signet ring the one that gives 6%, that is on gear, not devotions so it would only work if I actually swing the weapon. And only would apply to weapon damage. However the devotions are supposed to be global and hence work on the Fire Strike. So I thought???
You guys are saying nope, it’s weapon damage period, swinging a weapon, or not, as long as the skill has %weapon damage in the first place, and you get 100% max as long as the skill can take you there.
It’s weapon’s damage no matter how you gain the life steal?
NEW question- IF I get life steal from gear do I have to swing a melee weapon to get that? Or same as above it don’t matter, it just goes to weapon damage number?
With one exception - if there is ADCTH listed on skill itself (Sigil of Consumption, for example), then that ADCTH number will work for ANY damage done by skill (both Weapon and non-weapon). But all other sources of ADCTH work only for Weapon Damage, because that ADCTH is, in fact, Weapon Effect (effect, that is added to Weapon Damage hits).
It doesnt matter what weapon and what skill you’re using, melee or ranged… All that matters is Weapon Damage it does in fact.
All “weapon effects” share the same rule. Reducing enemy resistances, armor, OA/DA, move/attack/cast speeds, stun/freeze, etc - they all take effect only when you deal Weapon Damage to enemy, and are scaled in proportion to %Weapon Damage done (so a skill with 50% Weapon Damage will apply all those effects at 1/2 of their power), with cap of 100% (skills that deal more than 100% Weapon Damage wont apply more powerful weapon effects)
Being resistant to something is much better for the player than being outright immune to it. At least with an enemy being highly resistant to something you can lower that resist with flat resistance debuff, while immunity pretty much means you can’t lower that resist.
I have a Vit/Chaos Conjurer with heavy reliance on ADCTH, which granted has only fought Valdaran so far, but he can facetank him with only ADCTH. So yes, ADCTH does work on Nemeses.
