In my quest to start getting nittier and grittier while I tackle SR and Crucible with some pre-made and home made builds, I wanted to get a clarification of Attack Speed and Casting Speed. I checked 𤯠malawiglennâs guide on game mechanics for beginners which is a fantastic read which Iâm constantly going back to but it didnât quite answer my question.
Itâs pretty simple question, and apologies if this seems very noobish , but how can you tell the difference. Itâs easy when itâs an attack-replacer like Cadence or something like that but then I play with something like Eye or Reckoning on the surface it seems to be a spell like AAR or anything else, so instinctively it seems like it would be casting speed. BUT the description states MELEE WEAPON REQUIRED and AT 100% ATTACK SPEED it does etc.
So would it be on point to assume that ANYTHING that REQUIRES a MELEE WEAPON/RANGED WEAPON or any other weapon for that matter would be ATTACK Speed regardless of how the âabilityâ works?
Actually EoR is kinda special case, thatâs why it have special description.
Usually except it and auto attacks, you almost never see skills scaled with attack speed. For example the Yugol granted skill does scale with AS, Thunderous strike, ABB without the cool down I suppose.
Cast speed scaled are all spamming spells. But also CS affects animation of how each spell is casted.
False. Check Forcewave. Itâs easier to just memorize the list cause we donât exactly know the mechanics of what scales with what. Blade Arc, Primal Strike and EoR scale with attack speed while (most of) the rest scales with cast speed. My guess is that if youâre using melee and the skill hits in melee, itâs attack speed. Doesnât matter if it specifically requires a melee weapon. But if it throws shit like forcewave then itâs cast speed.
Ah. Ok. Thanks everyone, thought there might be a clear way. Those you all have mentioned of course make sense (i.e., abb, etc) but if anything in arpgs Iâve learned to be cautious of the exact wording of things.
Nope. Forcewave requires 2-handed weapon or shield, but is a SPELL (so it uses cast speed) regardless, not an attack .
Whether an ability is an âattackâ (using attack speed) or âspellâ (using cast speed and being unaffected by âfumble/impaired aimâ), depends on ability itself. There arent that many abilities in the game, so itâs mucheasier to make a complete list of âattackâ and âspellâ abilities.
