sorry for my not-par english
noob/pro question, i play with “move to” on lmb, and with main skill on rmb, and i think many of us had the problem with some skills that have transmuters that make them spammable(0 cd);this skills are not weapon default atacks, and they dont trigger effects like feral hunger or zolhans technique;but if u dont use the transmuter on this skills,u can still put them on right click, and hold right click to cast them whenever they are off cooldown;also between casting this skills,i notice u do some autoatacks, this is where my question is,do this autoatacks proc weapon default attack stuff? aka, feral hunger(attack dmg convered to hp)
as u can imagine, this will make primal strike without modifier kinda great
Transmuter or not primal strike wont proc attacks, because its not a default attack replacer its a spell. Some spells can however trigger “on attack” effects.(like from items)
If you want to use something to replace default auto attacks there is savagery, cadence and fire strike(and a few others) With those you will still proc attacks.
I’m no expert maybe someone here can give you a better answer.
ye,kinda makes sence, i know the efects do not proc on the skill itself,i asked if they procc on the atacks u do between the skills themselfs, but i think they dont,i tested a little, would have been nice, but i get it,technicaly by holding right click with a skill(that is not wpn defaul attack),the game “sees” u trying to cast that skill,so it cant procc stuff(even tho u dont cast the skill, couse its on cd)
Yes, the attacks that occur while your skill is on cooldown are default weapon attacks. It would be the same if you had default attack (white sword) on your left mouse button and you kept that down forever, only tapping your RMB to perform a Primal Strike.
Instead you keep RMB down and the Primal Strike fires when it’s ready. Only “problem” with this setup is that you may want to wait a bit for the right moment so that you don’t “waste” the skill, but big deal, you can get used to that pretty easily.
This is a very good question and thank you for the answer randomspawn, but I have another question. If what you are saying is right, that when the skill is on cooldown that every other attack is considered default weapon attack and can trigger passives from dual blades skill tree and that it does NOT creates any penalty (besides not having a specific timing to cast the skill like you mentioned), then I wonder why my DPS is getting halved when I put a cooldown skill on my RMB ?
example: (I am a dual-weild blademaster)
DPS with default weapon attack on RMB : 3904
DPS with Brutal Slam (from Severed Claw materia) on RMB: 2308
I get the fact (however I am not certain) that the game might consider the character only able to cast the skill once every 3.5 seconds, thus greatly reducing my DPS in a context in which I would not use default weapon attack in the meantime (while brutal slam is on CD), however, in reality, I would be certainly using my default weapon attack in the meantime, so I just want to be certain that it does not in fact affect my real DPS ?
So when gearing up, let’s say in a context that I’m only concerned in boosting my real DPS, should I always check it with the default attack to know my real DPS as opposed to the “fake” that comes from a CD skill?
Thanks!
Because it is showing your DPS for the Skill you have on your RMB. It takes the damage it does and divides it by how long the cooldown is. To see what your DPS is when skill is on cooldown just attach default attack to LMB and hover over DPS number it will show you both the Default DPS and the RMB skills DPS.
Cool, I now understand that you can hover DPS and see it as being dps from default weapon attack, thanks!
