Audio only works if I use headphones

My speakers work perfect in all other games and applications. I am using a Xonar DG sound card with the latest drivers and windows 10.

Grim Dawn has no sound unless I hook up my usb headset or my bluetooth headset. It will not work with this sound card it seems like. I haven’t had a problem in countless other games.

Can anyone help? I really like this game so far and I at least would like to complete the game. Thanks

Go to the audio tab in the options menu and set the audio device to your speakers.

Sometimes I find I have to go into Audio and select a random output. Then go back in and select either my speakers of headphones.

I tried this and still no luck. I’ve tried setting it to default audio driver (which is my speakers) and also straight to my speakers. My headphones dont even show on my audio devices when I try this as I unplug them.

Select an output…escape back to gameplay screen, then go back into audio and select appropriate output. That’s what does it for me.

I will try that when I get home. Thanks

No luck still. Im convinced its an issue with my xonar DG sound card as the sound also works through HDMI. Latest drivers dont help. Im stumped

I would disable your sound card and enable your on-board audio. That could point to the card being the issue.

Yep on board realtek HD sound works fine through my speakers. Its definitely an issue with the xonar dg. I even tried the modded UNI drivers for xonar and still no luck. Oh well, I’m just going to use on board sound for now.

About 15-20 years ago when I started building my own rigs, I’d shell out a bunch for a sound card. Nowadays, unless you’re an audiophile, on-board sound performs just as well.

I do suppose having an independent card would take some load off your CPU but, it’s sound, the gains don’t justify the investment for me anymore.

Yeah, it’s been at least 15 years since I’ve bought a dedicated sound card.
