Augment Mishap?

Hi,

All augments seem very well balanced.
But there is this Bysmiel´s Desert Barb (12 piercing resistance).

So what´s the point of Devil´s Crossings Bladeward Powder (10 piercing resistance)??

One is level 90 and the other level 70.

Sure.
But in the end, the devils augment is obsolete. This is the only case I know of an obsolete augment.
Don´t think that those - what…- 4 hours of play time where you are in between 70 and 90 are of any relevance. Leave alone of relevance of 2 (!) percent of piercing resist.

There are other level 70 resistance augments that become obsolete by level 90 versions.

In endgame, it’s obsolete. In leveling, you use Devil’s Crossing augments long before you get rep for the Three.

  1. Not everyone has FG 2. Is the vendor screen clogged up because of bladeward?

Indeed, not everyone has the expansions which means that augment is the only one available to them in the base game.

Fair point!
Concerning ya1´s response: Way too often i´m referred with the cults before being referred with Devil´s Crossing (both having a mandate).

Not to dissimilar to the way most gear is scaled.
You get Normal, Empowered and Mythical with a lot of gear and sets.

This makes sense as while the Normal gear may be great at level 20, you have outgrown it (or is OBSOLETE) by level 50 and above, but you still like the effects it gives you for your build.

The Empowered and Mythical versions give you a nice upgrade path for your build.
This is just why “Bladeward Powder” would be replaced by “Bysmiel’s Desert Barb” once you can get to a level where you can use it.

The relevance of 2 percent difference is a matter of choice and there will be many other options available at level 90, but hey, sometimes you are just looking for that extra 2 percent pierce resistance for your caps and it can make all the difference in Ultimate.
