I concur with the others in making potions slow HP regeneration to avoid spamming them to win.
I’d assume that the radius is always the same … but I have no idea what a couple meters are on the screen Maybe two steps …
Ouch :undecided:
Thanks again eisprinzessin for your answers, you pretty much know eveything!
Well, assuming the character you are playing is somewhere inbetween 1.50 and 2 meters in height, so “a couple meters” would propably be around 1 to 3 or 4 character heights?
I voted “yes”.
Potion are stackable so it would not be a problem with inventory fill in.
In TQ, I always picked up potions, even to sold them at town after ^^
To content everybody, it could be cool to add an option for enabling/disabling potion auto-pickup
I feel the same way
if the game is picking up things for me, it’s saving me time, and that is precious time that i can spend KILLING THINGS GRARRRGH
…so i vote yes to auto pickup.
Picture this: Your fighting a horde of monsters, theres alot of them and they start to overwhelm you from all sides, your slashing your way through but your running out health, and your running low on potions, taking damage fast.
Auto-potion pickup from the fallen would then replenish your supplies if your low in the middle of a battle, allowing us to continue the fight.
I vote yes!
So it would make the game easier and less challenging. Don’t think it’s that good if I can kill from beginning to the end without difficulties. The possibility do die is what gives the thrill, that shouldn’t be forgotten.
Not necessarily. It’s all about balance. It’s not like every enemy in the horde you are fighting is dropping potions. I imagine there will still be plenty of opportunities to die
I wouldn’t want to auto-pick up everything but currency and potions sounds logical to me.
Auto-pickup for potions is a nice idea but …
i would like to modify this in the options something like…
autopickup on/off
number of potions for auto - pickup $Number$ (0=unlimited)
(i.e. 20 if you have 20 potions auto pickup will stop working till you have less then 20 potions)
Quality: all/best in stock/just keep me alive …
-all …would pick up all potions found till $Number$ is reached
-best in stock would look trough your inventory and only pick up potions of the best quality your having with you
-just keep me alive, would try to stack up with your best potions but will pick up lesser ones here and there to make sure you have some potions at all …
this is much to code but this would be awesome in my opinion
Greetings
This makes things easier …
Nice that we don’t have to weed out the lesser potions. In my case, as I hate wasting resources, I always tried to use lesser versions first and saved my higher end for afterwards.
Only having one size is handy!
awww i missed that … thats indeed easier …
so … you only would need to adjust the number of potions you want to auto-pickup …0 would be off … and $Number$ would be max.
stacking them automatically somewhere besides the inventory would be great too, but wouldn’t that be a to easy way to farm gold? Well of course it depends on how valuable a potion is … or if we can sell them at all.
… [thread=2400]how to miss less information[/thread] …
Maybe better to have auto pick-up for potions as a passive skill , that way the player can activate it but at a cost of a skill point.
@ eisprinzessin
thx for the guide some of this stuff was really useful.
I just read trough this thread again to sort out some facts in my head and well … looks like i mess up with some other games here and there ;D
sry for that
anyway, the way like it is now, there would be no real reason for not implementing auto pickup potions and yeah it would be dump to actually optimize potion stacking with only one size potions and a 50+stack per Inv-Space(silly me :D).
It also sound like they are kinda of value so they are quite rare, stacking them up to the stack max is probably hard since you use/need them nearly as fast as you find them. Storing them somewhere else for the sake of inv space is now senseless too (at last for me) (only two slots used ->hard to get potions to fill up a second slot for each potion)
Since i did not found something via search, did anyone think about something like
potion sickness
after x potions the effect gets lesser or the CD higher (easy to explain by the body witch gets used to the “herbs” in the potions, so they lose some effect)
If the auto-pickup is to “mighty” something like this could help balance it.
Its basically just making the static potion usage more dynamic.
greetings
PS.: such a Skill would be skilled by nearly everyone. Therefore every mastery would need this skill, for reasons of balance. (otherwise a mastery could be preferred for auto potion pickup) does not sound really handy to me…
Auto potion pick-up wouldn’t be a skill, it’d be a mechanic every hero had from the start.
I do like the idea of potion sickness, right after gulping down a potion, you have to wait for 30 or so seconds before you take another one, or get bad return on your next potion (like, half health).
TQ had a cooldown on drinking potions, which to my mind is almost the same thing as potion sickness.
