I agree with it being toggle-able, and only with the appropriate stack system, and with instanced loot (otherwise my melee friend is going to steal all my potions while I shoot arrows from a distance). Definitely wouldn’t head down the path of auto-pickup loot of any kind, still need some fun of collecting stuff, but yes potions are a necessity and having to manually collect them is tedious.
You know you asked a good question when the 600±person response is split right in the middle!
Maybe this has been suggested already but… why not have it be an option? People who like picking up potions can click to pick them up. People who want autopickup can use autopickup.
Well in TQ at least mobs often dropped higher grade potions than are available during regular progression. The argument only stands endgame, or when backtracking.
Voted yes to bring it up to 320 yay, 320 no. But I’d really like to have it as an option that can be turned on or off either via hotkey or in the options panel.
Press ALT+KEEP RIGHT MOUSE BUTTON PRESSED for auto-pickup.
You want to pick some potion manually? Pick it
You want to pick all potions? Press some key+mouse (or even only key) for it.
Everyone happy.
My 2¢!
I am just worried about with what I have heard about reduced drop rate that when playing LAN with my younger brother auto pick up will make it harder to share potions.
Ok with potions I can understand autopickup a bit more then with gold but still why drop it in the first place and not hand it out on kill if one whant to include a autopickup?
Also when a autopickup is included then please add a filter to this what kind of potion one whant to pick up at all, I don’t whant to go into the inventory every time I acential walk over a wortless minor heal potion to destroy it.
A filter won’t be needed: There will only be one type/size of health and energy potions.
Wow, so how does this work, is the effect percentage based then?
I guess you get a some instant health (fixed percentage of your max health) and your regeneration rate is increased for some time. The latter might be based on max health again, your level or just multiply your current regeneration rate … not sure though.
I like it. I like the auto gold pick up and recently after playing Torchlight 2 I was kind of wondering why I had to pick up the potions.
How about once you fill your stack of 99, any more potions that get auto-picked up are converted to gold?
My fingers are kinda tired after having to pick up all dem pots from D2, TL1, PoE, D3, and now TL2. One of these days, my finger will protest against me and have a sign saying “no more clicking, we want our freedom back.”
Looks like YES is winning.
It’s a step in the right direction. Not having to pick up potions = easier to pick out items from the piles.
Also, it adds more pace to the game.
Well, I am not sure, really… In TL2 I have no problem picking up potions, I like it actually, and there is a lot more loot dropped than will ever be in GD (or any diablo-clone game).
I wish there could be a switch in Options for this…
If the potions are going to be rare in Grim Dawn like they say.
I don’t care what they decide here.
But if there’s like 3-6 potions dropping every 30sec-1min after herd kills, then the auto-pickup mode is a must have for this scenario.
Since the votes are still fairly split, I guess I could settle for a auto-pickup on/off switch.

I agree the votes are pretty much 50/50 logical conclusion
I’m quite new to Grim Dawn, so I could be asking something really stupid. Anyways…
Are potions stored in the inventory? If so, wouldn’t an auto loot function fill up the inventory?
Again, this could have been already brought up, but reading the whole thread seemed a bit
Path of Exile drastically changed the potion mechanics introducing flasks.
-Flasks are a kind of big empty vials placed in slots unrelated to the inventory.
-They fill up by killing enemies and can be of different kinds: health, mana, both.
-They can contain a set amount of restoring fluid, but you can drop them like normal items and get new bigger flask.
-Each flask can be used multiple time before it gets empty (I think it’s based on the amount of damage you are trying to heal, but it’s a while since I last played the closed beta)
I’m not saying the this is the best way, or needs to be copied, only that there are many ways to mange health restoring mechanics without filling the inventory with potions.
