Hey all, with the final release of GD, I wanted to focus on a ranged character. I really like the laid back approach that most PRM builds I’ve seen take, but was wondering if they are still viable with the release of B31/Retail.
I found this, http://grimdawn.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32061, but it doesn’t look like it’s much of a damage dealer. Basically, I want to fill the screen with bullshit and melt everything as ranged damage dealer. Does this build exist currently?
It’s pretty solid still, but Aldanar’s Vanity is nearly a must, for Ultimate, in my opinion. There’s probably a bit more fine tuning that could be done with it, but overall, I’m having no problems still tearing through with it. The main thing I decided to do with the gearing is use the Clairvoyant set, because my god does that thing eat Energy.
I’m only lvl 63 with mine and I think my PRM is at lvl 21? whatever it is it takes 145 energy per cast, and my speed is so fast i can empty out my 4k energy very quickly. I can’t wait to see Ultimate…this is on elite act 3 so far.
I have to either drink pots which only fill the bar a little over halfway, or sit around and wait for it to come back. I’m currently looking for gear to regen quicker.
Other than that, yes it fills the area with colors and melts everything around, especially if they are in nice tight little packs. I have the Aetherfire devotion hooked up to it.
The point of Soldier used to be Fighting Spirit’s 70% Crit Damage and % OA. With cooldown reduction and Aldanar’s Vanity, you can keep Fighting Spirit up permanently for a large boost to DPS. Of course, B31 completely removed Crit Damage from Fighting Spirit, and made the % OA flat instead, making it a more questionable choice now…personally I’m a bit sore over it :undecided:
Anyways, Occultist is a reasonable choice, though I’d prefer Demolitionist actually. Blast Shield + Aldanar’s Vanity + CDR is a recipe for Damage Absorption all day every day. Now that Flame Touched gives OA, it’s making Field Command look really awful too.
That said, the build still works. It’s not as amazing as it used to be with permanent 150% Crit Damage, but it still beats Ultimate Fabius with some kiting…
Soldier has zero healing/protection skills, how would you advice to sustain in Ultimate?
I am well lvl 35 now, too late to re-start with Occultist/Demo (here is hoping someone introduces a way to refund mastery points…) however the squishines is showing even in Veteran… I am on my way to Behemoth but i dont think that can replace Blood of dreeg.
CC can trump sustain, OFF is key here. That and Mirror (which was also nerfed) whose 3s should generally grant enough time to deal with the situation. You used to be able to chain together 2 casts of Mirror with Aldanar’s as well but…I guess the devs didn’t really like that - or Spellbreakers get too much damage immunity time I dunno…
Anyways, level 35 isn’t too late to just start another character I guess if it’s really becoming a bother. I levelled the old build before the wave of nerfs in B31 so she’s probably surviving now because she’s already decently geared. I can see how levelling now would be a pain since B31 screwed with some of the ways I was using to offset the tissue-paper defences of the build.
