Therefore, the Fire Damage would become Chaos Damage and then would be subject to damage multipliers. The Chaos to Aether conversion would not happen for this skill as the damage is changed once already.
The order of events for Conversion is as follows: Base Skill > Skill Modifiers > Conversion on the Skill or Transmuter > Conversion on Equipment and Buffs > Equipment, Auras and Passives.
Conversion only occurs once, then is subjected to the modifications in the order listed in the Game Guide.
Here is Greater Fireblast with Blood Rite and Soleil’s Witchfire active and an Albrecht’s Duality equipped (59% Chaos to Aether). The small Aether Damage on the tool tip is from the 22% Weapon Damage component of Greater Fireblast (converting the flat Chaos Damage from SWF…). If conversion could be used multiple times, it would be vastly higher.
In that case… BoC and Log will be a little slower… I will still probably use a Duality to help Agrivix’s Malice and Doombolt convert to aether. Thank you for bringing this to my attention.
Just throwing this out there Hanz, the Blood Orb of C’thon is a toggle. Would it be better to simply toggle the conversion off whilst fighting C’thonians?
No because all of my scaling is Chaos. Even if the mobs are 70% resistant… i would still be doing more Chaos damage. And no mob is truly immune to my Chaos damage thanks to the symbol of solael and Solael’s Witchblade proc.
I tried a very similar build, and while I had fun with it, I stopped playing it because one thing really annoyed me, and I think it should be at least mentioned on a guide to such a build(if it IS mentioned I didn’t see it): The blood rite skill totally offsets the constitution system, meaning you always have to deactivate the skill between fights to heal via constitution, while it is active constitution doesn’t heal you at all because of the “active health cost” of the skill. So imo people should know that before leveling such a build, because maybe I’m not the only one wanting to have that nice little constitution feature on every build^^. Besides that it’s a great build :).
This is nonsense. Yes blood rite turns off constitution but you do not have to deactivate it ever. Blood of dreeg life Regen is more then capable of keeping you topped off on health.
Im confused, feels like i just wasted 2 days getting new char to level 65.
My problem is as follows:
Was building +Cold until 65 with Olexras Flash Freeze as main AOE clear. With devotions fully specced into +Chaos (Dying God etc) and still raping with cold. At 65 i swapped with Blood orb, Empowered Voidblade etc and my dmg on OFF dropped from 4k (Cold + Frostburn) to 3k (Chaos + Frostburn), i was like wow that is weird (same gear with +Cold spec, mind you, so why didnt my +Cold from gear convert into Chaos? Devotions already fully +Chaos). As a sidenote, damage of Devastation doubled.
Anyways, i started swapping in other gear and i noticed gear with +%Cold, +%Fire … DOES NOT ADD to the output DPS - that elemental damage is not converted into CHAOS (?).
With “Blood Rite” from Blood Orb turned off, equipping these boots increases DPS
With “Blood Rite” from Blood Orb turned on, equipping or not equipping these boots has NO IMPACT on DPS
Am i missing something? Or does it mean that blood orb conversion on spell applies FIRST and then the items +Cold/Fire/etc. mods apply, so that any +Cold/Fire/etc. on items are basically wasted with Blood Orb spec (and only +Chaos% should be used on items)?
My bad then, i totally misunderstood the idea. So in the end, what is the advantage in using blood orb/+chaos gear, if you could just use another offhand with +fire gear (devastation)? I mean there is probably some advantage that im not getting yet.
He’s making it so Devastation does Chaos & Aether damage so it works better with Doom Bolt. Also doing this allows him to use a better spammable skill then shitty chaos bolt. So now he has a Chaos version of greater fireblast and a chaos version of OFF. Now all the skills synergize with his build.
It just allows you combine skills you normally wouldn’t combine since their damage types aren’t the same.
I have 4 builds I use Blood orb of Chthon
how is this build for someone that doesnt have access to any gear over lvl 50 atm? Just checking make sure i will be ok w/o having certian gear ready for him right off the bat
Well you need the Legendary Focus Blood Orb of Chthon to maximize the builds potential. You could still do the build it just might taper off some in Ultimate.
