This is where I’m at, I can comfortably farm act 2 in ultimate for legendaries ( not getting anything useful )
I’ve made it to fort Ikon and its not easy but doable… I just tried steps of torment and couldn’t make it past the first big smashy boss. Everything takes quite a long time to kill.
Is there anything that I can buy at NPCS that will help me or is it just keep farming cronley/hive queen/twinfalls until I get some legendaries for this character?
Also I have noticed that as I level up but don’t change gear everything is becoming so tanky. Guess I should die on purpose to stay at 97?
DPS on shadowstrike is 42000 and regular attacks 22000.
Anyways thanks for the help.
Edit - As my whirl pool devotion is leveling up I am noticing quite a big DPS increase with it. Might be part of it being so low level.
Part of the problem is gear. For example your swords are terrible - searing prefix is actively bad and your auto attacks are a bit anemic with or without the alacrity rolls.
But a big part is simply build. Shadow strike is really more of a supporting player (usually supporting either TSS or hagaard) and I’m not sure a build based around it will ever take off - even with much better gear. (Although slow and steady clears of rogue-likes would be possible with lots of farming. But it’ll be a lot of hit and run vs the bosses.)
Silben is right, gear is the problem. Yours is just awful obviously. It was good for leveling, but once you enter ultimate you have to farm for better gear pieces, you are missing a lot of gear with +1 to skills, you are also missing Alkamos rings + Chilling Grip of Hagaragbaragarad gloves for crucial pierce to cold conversion. If you are at Fort Ikon, try farming Loxmere for his weapon (although you might die to him quite a bit). Also, get better Spectral Swords from Blood Grove secret vendor, try to get at least “Chilled of Alacrity” or “Chilled of Frostbite/Spellweaving”.
Silben is incorrect about the build however, Shadow Strike breaker is not what it used to be, but definitely still viable for end-game if assembled correctly.
But what’s more important, start trading on these forums to slowly acquire pieces needed for your final build (which is my TSS/PB spellbreaker I assume).
Yeah I was aiming towards your vanilla ice build, I’ll try to start trading. I have over a full stash of mythical legendaries so hopefully I have a couple people want.
If I were to level another character once I unlock the exp potion, what build would you guys suggest to farm ultimate without having to trade for gear, or is that really possible?
sorry for asking so many questions, I’ve been playing POE to long… learning another ARPG is making my brain hurt lol.
You can farm gear with any character playing self-found, but some are are easier than others, there are few guides for complete beginners that you can find on these forums. It’s a completely different kind of game if you are playing self-found though, don’t expect to reach end-game builds any time soon.
If you are going to take up trading, trade on these forums using “legitimate” trade thread in “gameplay” section. I am sure some people will happily barter with you. I will be happy to sell you some pieces myself for the price of some crafting materials.
I won’t, that’s how I ruined titan quest, I found out you could alter the drop rate multiplier in the settings ini. Got all the gear in a day and never played again
Edit - I have quite a bit of legendary crafting mats if you wanna talk
