It’s a bit silly, but my wife and I have a friendly competition in Grim to see who has the character with the highest damage record. For many, many months now she has held the title with her grenado purifier – sitting pretty at ~1.75 million. Until today my highest held damage was my Warder, Guts, whose blade arc had dealt about 1.6 million. This morning I woke up with a burning determination to take the crown back, and after several hours of tweaking and testing I was able to pump my crit damage enough to deal a whopping 1.93 million damage with my blade arc.
I know it doesn’t mean much in terms of overall character quality, but it’s kinda like a fun “side quest” as I play. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else here had a similar competition with friends or loved ones. What are the highest records you have seen? It seems like a lot of my own damage records favor my physical damage characters, so I’m interested what other types people have seen too!
Sadly I play GD by myself as my brothers don’t like the game and I’m currently single.
Pretty neat little mini game for sure. I can’t remember what the highest damage dealt my chars had on my old save file. Probably EoR warlord iirc; or Avenger Archon; nothing over 1.5 mil I believe.
Now it’s probably blitz WL but build is still being assembled.
Curious as to your testing grounds for the damage? MC? SR?
It certainly can be a fun way to sort of track increases in damage as your build changes with time, plus it breeds friendly competition I keep a running Excel sheet that tracks my builds and their highest damage dealt – of my current 24 level 100’s only four have dealt damage over 1 million, and only two have topped 1.5 million (Guts using blade arc, and my Shieldbreaker using grenado @ 1.57 million).
As far as “testing” goes – I am relatively consistent but not very scientific, haha. After making any substantial tweaks I usually take some whacks at a test dummy as an easy way to see if I have pumped my damage appreciably. Typically this doesnt tell me much, as you only deal your “true” damage in combat, so I pick several well-known runs (Ugdenbog, Crown Hill, Necropolis, etc.) and complete a few to see if I hit a new record. I often find myself testing revamped builds on Kra’vall a lot – I am not sure why, but it is something I do. I also try to rely only on skill/devotion damage, so I usually don’t take potions when testing my builds.
I’m not sure what is wrong with the wiring in my brain, but I just cannot get into SR, so basically none of my builds are tuned for that (any that are is by pure coincidence). If I am looking for a true challenge/test for one of my chars I usually just go for one of the celestial bosses.
i’m enjoying seeing how far i can get in Crucible on Hardcore, and how far i can get in the game with a softcore classless character. best i’ve done there is gettiing a low level achievement. i tried to do it on Veteran. but got trounced. the Hardcore character has gotten to wave 50 so far. not playing my usual builds on that one. to try and get to know the game systems better
also been trying to avoid spoilers and in depth information online. for pretty much any game anymore. have started studying the game guide though and looking at bug reports. my enjoyment of video games has increased vastly from that. though it leaves me a lot less to look at online
i love hearing about your friendly competition. it is very heartwearming
Thank you – I love the Berserk series, so I HAD to make a character after Guts With most of my characters I try my best not to use illusions, but Guts is my one exception. The funny part is I love the illusion system in Grim, I just almost never use it. I think there is some small, stubborn part of me that believes if I use an item for it’s benefits, I have to live with its looks, goofy or not haha.
i legit don’t remember what the cruci blessings grant exactly
But in SR you get TDM from the 10essence stacking, and you can(/could?) get TDM from one of the shrines too, allowing for some pretty big potential numbers there with a bit of RNG luck on trash/“if you didn’t obliterate a trash mob during debuffings”
Holy hannah on a banana! After hours upon hours of tweaking and testing I finally cleared the 2 Million mark! Just had to share…I can finally rest.
Edit: For those curious, I am about 96% certain I set it on Fleshweaver Haraxis in the Malmouth Harbor, on Ultimate. That being said, it was a very busy fight.
Obviously I was in SR taking 10 souls while being with other players while also possibly taking oleron shrine.
HOWEVER, I dunno why after long time break I checked my other toon which also had insane damage close to it but it turned out it was war cry. Last time when I played and fiddled with it, it also had 4 or 5ish million but how Is this even possible (see picture below):
It comes to my mind if I cheated at some point or not reaching these big ass numbas… but in reality, I have not. Still impressive feat OP, it’s just me being in SR with bois.
Wow, those numbers are WILD! No matter what the circumstances, VERY impressive! I haven’t even considered yet what my record might jump to when I don’t play solo – might have to convince my wife to hop on with a buff-heavy character tonight!
%HP reduct results in high numbers in high SR when enemies have increased health(which is increased more in MP on top too), i remember Wyrez? once said, pox/and warcy dealing zillions
Yea, definitely have the transmuter on Blade Arc to get it up to snuff – I was able to capture a quick snapshot of its damage and had it maxing out over 700k. But to do that I had to have deadly momentum and fighting spirit popped, along with the Ulzaad Devo, and finally a bump from prismatic rage on my helmet.
Yeah, might be the war cry again but still big boi damage. for a build which isn’t focused on cry that much. I believe if u have 22/12 war cry u get 10 mil or something like that.
EDIT: u know what could be very cool to have guys, something like “Highest damage dealt-2100100 dmg by Blade Arc” etc while also excluding very very specific skills which is and will be - Fat cry
So this was too funny not to share. I hopped on Grim with my wife tonight to do some farming, and she was using her grenado purifier. Barely any time into the run she sends me the screencap below. I humbly take my place back in second, and will eventually laugh once I’m done crying lmao
