Hello everyone back with what has probably been an interesting subject in the past.
I finally got the stuff to Craft 10 Badge of Mastery (Always wanted to make a run of 10 in one go at least once). Decided to Copy my character and do the 10 BoM.
#10 was +5 ShadowStrike (I guess this is kind of hitting the jackpot).
I then decided to copy my character holding the mats and fill a full stash of BoM to have some data.
A) About 1 in 16 ended up being +5 (8 out of 130).
B) Out of those 8 “rare” +5 2 of them are Summon Familiar (so Pure Crap)
The other are ShadowStrike (Jackpot), Forcewave (not bad), OFF (can be usefull). Albretch Aether Ray (I guess could be good but don’t know how easy it is to overcap, just like Cadence wouldn’t be that good considering how easy it is to get the +10 anyway). And two skills I can’t really comment being Canister Bomb and Belgothian Shears.
C) Out of 130 BoM 16 (1 out of 8) had two Skills from the same Skill (I guess it should be 24 if you count the 8 +5 I got) which make it to about 2 every 11 BoM ended up being “Single Class”. Obviously having 2 from the same Mastery does not equal a good thing ((who is using BWC and Stun Jack for exemple!)
D) This one is a HUGE pile of Crap IMO 17 of them had Summon X. Considering that BoM got absolutely nothing to help Summoner and that anyway the Main Set include a Medal this is 17 BoM (2 every 15) that have a purely useless skill no matter how you turn that one around.
E) I got some double AA replacer (namely Cadence + Savagery) guessing nothing would allow a build to really use both of those skill.
In the end Out of 130 BoM I would say I got 10 that could be useful (not necessary to me but in general) The other are either completely useless or have that 1 out of 2 skill that “could be worth something”
To everyone thinking about BoM I guess under the current situation it translate to it ain’t worth it. Maybe something should be done in general to at least help the odd.
My first idea would be to remove bunch of skill from the potential list maybe limiting it to 3 instead of 5 per Class. Then you follow up by assigning One Mastery to Each Smith (we have 6 Smith and 6 Mastery right now) that make it so the +3 is automatically from that Smith “Class”. You would end up having a 1/3 possibility to get at least the Skill you are looking for.
When i want a bom for a character i craft one, drop (destroy) it and the create the on i want through gdstash. Thats one of very few workarounds i allow myself, as the randomness of crafting a useful onse is a joke, just as you illustrated.
I never think Badge was ment to be easy +5. I mean Most of those I use is +2 or +3 for the skill I need. Besides, I can only think of one skill from the top of my head that really needs that +5. And that is Mortar trap, why? Because 24/16 makes this skill put +2 additional mortars for a 3 total.
And even then I guess with the right gear setup you could potentially get the +8 demo skills anyway.
I had also a few +3 and +2 hybrids (+3 one skill from demo and +2 from soldier for instance) that a very good. I dont think the + skills should be limited to only a few per class as this could harm build diversity.
Badge feels like a “wildcard” medal when all of the already made ones fit poorly into your build
They are currently limited to 5 per class (or out of 130 I only have seen 5 per class show up) and they are all active skill.
I never did mention easy +5. I did mention that basicly it would be easy to get half of them as being useless or at least a lot less usefull (The worst are clearly Summon Hellhound and Summon Familiar but there is also no use in Maiven let’s be honest nobody is overcapping that skill)
The Hybrid can be good but Devouring Swam with Panetti is a huge waste of time and materials (got 4 of that duo) and being able to just pick at least your +3 would be coming from which class (even better if we are able to drop them to 3 (maybe 4? I guess 25% Chance is a not so bad ratio) per class instead of 6) it would give you a 1 out of 3 chance to get the +3 you are looking for.
If you want Cadence go see Angrim you could get +3 Cadence, Forcewave, Blade Arc so it is a 1/3 chance (I just did cut Counter Strike, Blitz, War Cry)
If you want Occultist go see Cursed Smith for a +3 to either Bloody Pox, Sigil, DEE. (I left both Summon out and Doom Bolt since it it is easy to gear towards a +10 with either the Set or even just the help from the Nemesis Shoulder. Also it is a single skill without modifier still if you keep 4 then Doom Bolt would stick)
