Barn workers not stocking cow food for winter :/

I don’t know if it’s a bug so I ask here
There are TWO workers taking care of ONE cow, they follow her everywhere, and it seems such riveting task they can’t leave it to stock cow food so, during winter the poor cow starves
I paid a lot of gold for that cow and those lazy $%"# hide in their refuge during winter while my precious cow suffers!!!
I’ve had barns and cows before without problems, but it was in pacifist mode
Is this a bug? or what should I do?

I have teir 2 barns, and I even built a granary out by them, and it is stocked, and I still run into this issue every single winter.

For some reason they stocked tubers (don’t know the word used in the game in english) but not beans, even if they were available

@Kanotoushi I think the game terms them “root vegetables”, but tubers works. The herders will only stock root vegetables or grains, never beans.

Sheesh, every single map I’ve played on, Tier 1 or 2 barns, the herders always tend to not stock enough. I’ve found 10 cows is a happy medium. They’re still usually unhealthy in the spring, but they don’t get sickly. I have more than enough veggies available, but still…

I was sure I saw some beans in the storage in other map, maybe they were for the workers :smiley:

I’ve had them start at full but as winter progresses and they eat the food the warning flips up very aggressively anyway. It’s like they stock at the start of winter for the whole of winter but then it still negatively affects the cows.

I keep the granaries and a root cellar limited to root vegetables near the barns. This shortens the distances the herders need to walk to stock the barn.

It helps but isn’t a perfect solution.

I understand how the granary works but how do you control the type of item to stock in a root cellar?
Maybe putting it close to the farm so its the farmer first choice to store?

If you open up the root cellar interface, you can check and uncheck the food types. Unchecking them means they will not be stored there. The checks are tiny, so squint. :rofl:
