I have been playing for 14 years or so, not only bass but whatever that doesn’t matter, what are your favorite bass players? i honestly dont care if you even play bass TBH.
Mine are:
1: Les Claypool, Primus/ his own stuff
2: Victor Wooten, Bela fleck and the Flecktones/ his own stuff.
3: Geddy Lee/ Rush
4: John Paul Jones/ Led Zepplin
5: Fieldy/ Korn
There are A LOT more that i think are great but those are my top 5. What do you think?
It’s been about 15 years since I last picked up a guitar of any sort. I came to the realization that I was horrible, and that I’d be better off just living vicariously through these guys’ music, as opposed to butchering it myself. lol
I remember learning all of Fragile years back. Man i loved playing Roundabout.
Also Invaders by Iron Maiden and Aeroplane by RHCP are great songs to play, but i do love all of those guys songs though.
I started when I was 14 y.o. and now I am… 34.
It’s kind of hard for me to only pick 4 names, but those 4 below have my deep respect for their awesomeness.
Troy Sanders - Mastodon
Paul Hinojos - At the drive-in
Ben Sheperd - Soundgarden
Sting - The Police
I appreciate the way their bass-lines both emphasize and support the whole song, and adds a little ‘something’ more to it than just a nice bass part.
Special mention to Flea, Fieldy and Robert Trujilo (though I prefered his work with Infectious Groove and Suicidal Tendencies)
Nice list though:) im a pretty big Police fan, Sting is a great bassist. Soundgarden is really good to, i haven’t listened to them in quite awhile. I love Black hole sun.
