Beginnner Augmenting/Skilling/ WPS

Hello I am new player again. I am level 30 Soldier now

  1. Is it OK to use things like [Roiling Blood] or [Scavenged plating] on yellow /Green items? Or just save them up for high level items?

  2. Is Cadence bad? people keep saying it is Bad. Like almost detrimental because it prevents abilities from triggering.

  3. WPSes. Am I correct that [Markovian’s Advantage], [Zolhan’s Technique], [Falcon Swoop], and various Item effects all count as WPS?
3.A. If lts say [Falcon Swoop]15% triggers on an attack, it means other WPSes cannot trigger on the same attack?

  4. How does one tank bossess at early levels? I feel like paper when my Pots are on cooldown and the boss has several Archers firing at me.

  5. It seems I need AoE skill only for clearing “fodder mobs”, so I just need one AoE skill right? No need to have two?

  6. If intending to Solo Play, is it needed to skill the “Aura Passives”. Or are they ineffecient when only you can benefit?

  7. I want to play 2handed build (cause they look cool) but I read that they are just not as damaging as Dualwield or Shieldbuilds do almost as much damage but are a lot tankier. However I read in patch 1.010 that 2handed got 3-15% buff. Is it still considered terrible?
7.A Will a Dual Pistol be better? Is it terrible to be a ranged soldier?

  8. Which Soldier skills are must max? Or is it ok to have a lot of 1 pointers if im not maxing them

Thanks in advance again.

  1. You can always pluck out the components at inventor NPC
  2. Cadence is pretty great, but it requires some specific builds to work
  3. WPS are exclusive, meaning each attack can only trigger 1 WPS. However, devotion triggers like Falcon Swoop are not WPS, meaning they can trigger together with WPS
  4. Up your resistances, DA and armor. Almost all early bosses can be killed with 1-3 potions usage anyway
  5. It is the other way around, you only need 1 single target skill to fight bosses, just add as many AOE as you want to the rotation so that you can clear contents faster
  6. Yes, auras are useful for yourself as well
  7. Problem with 2h is the slow attack speed and zero flexibility in defense. Having more damage is good but it doesn’t address the issue with 2h
  8. Military conditioning (HP and physique), Field command (OA and DA), and Decorated soldier (armor, absorption and resistances) are things that good to max regardless of builds. Of course you want to max your main attack skill as well.

I’m pretty sure this was never considered terrible. And yes, it is better.

Should probably note that this can be easily overcome in a myriad number of ways quite easily, donchya think? +%Attack Speed can be gained from numerous gear, Devotions, and skills.

Possible, but not very easy

Gears, devotions and skills are limited in number. If you use them for attack speed, you lose other potential stats, which will negate the damage advantage of 2h

Balance in all things. You have more than enough options to nullify any speed deficiencies and still boost your damage, take care of resists etc.

And I still am holding out hope that they have worked on a means to reintroduce component bonuses back into the game with the expansion as medierra hinted when they removed them.

One thing to keep in mind (I am finding) is that a self found first character what loot drops is a big influence. So even if I like the idea of a weapon or damage type if a really good item drops I might flex to using that for a time. Of course I don’t want to spend iron bits and crystals to respec my devotions and skills all the time but if a great item drops that is close to something I could use I might flex to use it.

That’s not really balance, that’s just limited options. While 1h and DW have the luxury of using whatever they like (for example the wyrmbone handguards that have 0 speed bonus), 2h have to use things with speed bonus.

Also 2h weapons lose out in term of conversion as well. DW can easily reach up to 50% conversion with 2 components while 2h only has 40%. That 10% difference alone can be bigger than the 15% base damage boost

I didn’t play when component bonus was a thing, but I do hope it will bring back more versatility for 2h

One of my favourite builds is my cadence dual wield soldier build. It farms well and it does everything I need it to do in the vanilla game. I haven’t tried to tackle some things with it because I know it won’t do those things. I doubt it will tackle the queen or the avatar and I haven’t tried it in crucible but I’m not sure if it could do the two highest difficulties.

That might not be the build, that might just be my skill and understanding being lacking. It is also dependent on some high level gear to be successful, though not anything that is terribly special. The most important aspect is of course the two deathdealer’s sidearms.

There are definitely better dual wield pistol builds out there. I’m sure some of the guys who really understand the game could improve it. For one I designed myself though and got some input from the community it is fun and it is viable for what I need it to do. I wouldn’t level with it as this kind of build doesn’t really seem to be supported very well while leveling but when you have the gear and the end game and you just want to have some fun and farm some gear in the vanilla game it is great.
