I just started Ultimate difficulty, and I was wondering if anyone knows a efficient way to farm legendary.
I really gotta get rid of my rare weapon I have been using since level 50. (I’m 64 now)
I run the hive at Twin Falls mostly. A lot of champs there and a boss. That’s where I’ve found the majority of my legendary gear. The Armory in Act 4 is also one of my favorite spots.
If you have the Crucible DLC, that is pretty good to farm legendary items as well.
has anyone ever did a time vs reward when farming the crucible vs hot spots in the main game?
I’m doing the crucible 150 but getting unlucky with those chests
I haven’t. I’m not really a big fan of the crucible. I get bored with it too quickly.
I don’t spend a lot of time farming leg’s because i’m not really an “end game” player but, i do seem to get more out of Crucible. Maybe just RNG though
How about recipes? I haven’t seen one in about 6 months; but I assume all the new set helmets are crafted only, so I need to start farming for them.
Is there a better way to get recipes than just playing through ultimate over and over?
Not really, basically you’re doing Ultimate and killing stuff until you get lucky with the patterns…
In general … I believe most people simply just farm a few spots over and over again to run the chance of possibly getting a legendary.
In particular the good hotspots are Cronley’s Hideout (Four Hills Rift), or Royal Hive (Rotting Cropland, than follow the road and head the 4 farm areas with the insects, one of them will have the Hive, and basically kill everything in there, and don’t forget the secret area in the Skittering Den part!..)
Personally,
I find that a little to bland, just 2 spots over and over again while possibly very efficient , just uber boring… Instead what I tend to do is basically try to kill all the purple bosses in the game as I go…
I’ll start with Act 1 , and find the certain hot spots, than move on to Act 2, than Act 3 , and finally Act 4… So yea I guess I’m essentially beating the game over and over again, but I guess the minor differences is I’m simply focusing on the bosses and nemesis (once you get the proper rep for em) that I run into as I move along .
I find doing it this way, not only increases the variety a bit, but more importantly helps ya land all the general good crafted materials which in turn can be gambled for Legendaries with the Tyrant Hold blacksmith.
Thus in your case in case since you’re only in your early 60s, I’d just focus on a few acts at a time, perhaps do Act 1 and Act 2 over and over and see what you kind of stuff you get … and continue to move forward as best you can. If you feel you’re getting to squishy and dying a lot, than stop and go back to Act 1 and Act 2 and just farm those spots over and over till you’re at a good spot to continue…
Granted there’s some bosses that are simply not doable without the proper gear (like specifically does in the hidden path, Mad Queen, and even the Sentinel), so I would try to just skip those for now and focus on the other until you get the gear to do em properly.
Basically you wanna kill as many “purple bosses” as you can because they all have a chance to drop Grand Spoils, and sometimes “surpreme spoils” (although rare, most of that really happens on the end boss of the Act, like Cronley or the Warden…) Thus the more chances your taking at things , the better it goes I find.
Also don’t ignore heroes, if you come accross them, while I wouldn’t go out of my way to look for em cause they are pretty random in the locations (at least some) they too have chances to drop legendaries including blueprints too…
If something like this perhaps strikes your fancy I can do a more detailed write up of what rifts to take and what bosses are where…
For now. check out these Videos… This is where basically I got most of the idea to do bosses and such based on the paths he was going and all :)… (I still do a little more beyond what’s mentioned the videos, but it’s a fantastic starting point I find)…

Sadly looks like he moved on from the game and never made an Act 4 video…
But those will give a great general idea on where to go for boss farming if you prefer to do that instead of the usual Cronley and Royal Hive runs…
