Beta vs Original compendium WITH the poll. :p

Ain’t NO way I’m gonna make submissions to both compendiums.

It’d be extremely helpful if the community could vote on this poll which format they prefer over the next couple of weeks or so.

That way I’ll know which compendium to drop.

Thanks!

New one. It’s perfect imo.

EDIT: there’s a significant disadvantage of being unable to search by skill though.

Beta, it’s much tidier and easier to find things, especially with the table of contents. Been wanting the class names alphabetised for ages.

Good job on new compendium. Its now muuuch better

This. But for the life of me I can’t think of a workaround.

If you mean that you cannot use CTRL+F, because you need to do this on multiple pages now, then you can use Search this Thread. If you use the Advanced Search, you can specify the author as sir spanksalot. The result list will be sorted newest to oldest post, so that what you are looking for is most likely at the bottom of the list.

Would you mind if I quoted this on the compendium?

Feel free

Old one is much better.
Strongly dislike this new one.

I will be honest and silly and say I don’t quite see the difference.

If by any means the new compendium would take away ctrl+F because some people are lazy then it’s no from me. Otherwise be it as it may:p

Table of Contents links are nice

Something to keep in mind: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it:)

Don’t mind the new one, there’s a bit more hassle to search specific damage types/skills but it’s not really that different. It has it’s own pros.

My thoughts. Exactly.

Interesting. I felt like there was a lot more push for a revamp. But keep em coming guys.

We’ll go with what the majority prefers.

I for one prefer the new compendium - makes maintaining it a lot easier. :stuck_out_tongue:

I like the new version. The amount of scrolling the classic compendiums require has always put me a little off. If you want to compare e.g. the 3 classes you get from 3 masteries and find the “best” build, you can easily open them in separate tabs now.

I prefer the old one for two reasons:

There are some redundant builds when one mastery is clearly favoured at the core of a build. For example, if you make a grenado / BWC / Canister bomb build chances are, your second mastery is extremely light. So you can have 3 or more ‘builds’ that all have their merits but with 3 different class.
With beta compendium, you can’t quickly identify them.

Then, I also use the compendium to see if a build I make already exists in the compendium. But again, in that case, I look for the core of my build in the compendium. And for that, I need to see all of it in a quick way.

Essentially, my own vision of GD builds is this one:
-: there are builds that use two masteries in a synergistic way, investing around equally in both
-: there are builds with one Master mastery and one Supportive mastery (or Slave mastery :stuck_out_tongue: ). These builds will usually spawn multiple variants of Core+defmastery, Core+rawstats mastery, Core+utilitymastery.

Beta compendium is better to search for the first kind.
But it slaughters the search for the second kind.
It’s then only a matter of opinion which one is better. I egoistically prefer the old one, but the fact that the new one would be easier to manage for Sir Spanksalot is not to be underestimated.

I like the new compendium with TOC. Life gets better if you can click on class instead of rollin.

It won’t take long, he said. It’ll be easy, he said.

:stuck_out_tongue:

I was right! :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah. It took a fair bit of time, and my OCD wouldn’t let me leave it half done.

But it’s well worth the effort I think. Judging by the poll so far, looks like most people prefer this one.

It definitely worth it. Sometimes it is needed to implement better things for people (even if people don’t agree  )
