Black screen after loading a game - Build 0.9.7c

Like what the title said, everything turned black after loading a game, specifically after that video before a new game.

Tried delete the Save folder under both old and new directories, re-install the game, driver was the newest at the time so no tinkering with that.

More hardware info in dxd log.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with 0.9.7c. Looking at your DxDiag, your machine looks more than capable and your drivers are recent. I did notice that you have a second “LuminonCore IDDCX” video adapter. Looking into that, I think that’s a USB interface to drive an external monitor (typically an iPad or tablet)? I see some chatter on the internet that various video apps and hardware have had issues with this adapter installed/active. I would try disabling that interface (maybe via Device Manager), rebooting, and seeing if that helps.

It’s kind of a long-shot but it’s the only thing I’m seeing.

To start: Thanks for your fast reply!

As you guessed, that’s a decent little tool that allows connecting and sharing the screen on an iPad. After uninstall and reboot things did NOT make any changes.

See this screenshot here

The only thing I could find on my end is the FPS reading from Steam, and the shovel-like pointer of the game (which is not showing in the screenshot).

I know this information might not help us more. If there’s any other info can help I’d love to share, for I really enjoyed this game for a few years.

Many Thanks!

Wow. Actually that does help. It indicates that the game is up and running. Can I see your video settings? Start > Settings > Video > Video Settings.

And/or could you try the “Set Defaults” to reset them?

Also … are you able to run the Mono version?

I’ll have to make a few replies as I have several screenshots to share this time. To be specific, that screenshot from my last reply shows the same thing I saw before I generated this post.

The game itself was always running, by watching task manager it shows the CPU and GPU was been used at a certain percentage. (See picture here.)

CPU usage had a peak when loading the game, then comes the GPU usage on about 30% when black screen shows up. So yes, I agree on “the game is running” part.

Here’s the video setting before I make any changes:

All four boxes at the bottom are not enabled.

Set to default and… no go. The only difference is FPS was capped at 60, due to the default setting of 60hz refresh rate.

Mono version can be opened, and shows the same result, means the same black screen.

Also this window pops up as intended I guess?
