I started to wander if anyone actually heavily invests in this skill.
I am running a DW selffound Nightblade clvl 24 atm and I have been doing some Veteran Warden & Lab runs and at only 4 points the Blade Spirit makes
a world of a difference in killing speed. And it scales well with everything that has +pierce / +% piercefrom items / skills.
From TQ old days I know there is no reason to get all excited now as later on it might prove completely useless but hey - I can always respec.
Blade SPirit should be even better with VoS / Night Chill. So - there are so many ways to buff this thing up for pierce / physical Nightblade /later to turn Blademaster/.
Do you guys use it? How do you develop it equipment - wise? all with pierce bonuses I guess. How many points? And what devotion do u attach to it? How far can it take me?
I attach Blades of Wrath usually. As for end game usefulness of the spirit itself…I’d rate it mediocre and not worthy of heavy investment. Too much of end game damage is based on procs and scaling with attack speed - neither of which it is capable of doing (well, it does the devotion proc well, but that’s it)
I use it as a one point wonder on my witch hunter to proc devotion (acid spray from manticore) and it works wonders for that. Other than that it just received a large nerf that removed it from a lot of builds as a full point investment. On a related note nightblade really needs exclusive skills…
Well, I know it roxs normal, never actually used it in elite but I imagine it’d do fairly well against all but the most resilient targets there…although sense its just a 16 point skill you can definitely get a 2ndary skill for your boss killing needs.
I was more thinking that it will only just tickle an ultimate boss, and a Nemesis wouldn’t even feel it.
Same. I put Blades of Wrath on blade spirit and Blind Fury on my default to maximize the procs of both abilities. It works particularly well getting rid of crowds and adds.
Personally, I wouldn’t put any points into it until you get Blades of Wrath (or Blind Fury). The benefit of other skills for leveling is just too high. If you don’t have 5 points in Execution, put the blade spirit point there.
I built a Spellbreaker focusing on piercing and Blade Spirit before the recent nerf and it had insane clear speeds…through Veteran and Elite. Seriously, I never had a build clear content faster. However it completely smacked into the Ultimate difficulty spike. So I would concur that it makes for an amazing leveling skill, but unfortunately isn’t end game viable.
I just finished Veteran with clvl 57 and now I am farming Bastion of Chaos. (side not: got 3 purples already, and one 2H mace that looks nice, name I forgot).
Blade Spirit at skil lvl 12 does approx. 1100 - 1200 dmg and with blades of wrath it just pwns everything minus bosses but that I can handle myslef. the clear speed for mobs is amazing. I will miss it when it looses its killing power
I did not venture into Elite now but I guess it will not be that bad for trash.
I have a 2hd physical/bleeding trickster which uses Blade Spirit, and with blind fury devotion skill attached it absolutely rocks It procs very very often and the damage is also very good because of the 85% weapon damage. So I can devinitively recommend this combination with a 2hd melee character
I have Blades of Wrath attatched to Blade Spirit. BoW proc on crit hit. Does my offensive ability and crit chance it gives me affects directly BS and its ability / possibility to proc BoW?
The real problem with this skill is that it’s based on cast speed, you have to literally interrupt your autoattack/shadow strike rotation to do it - it doesn’t blend well with the fast paced gameplay of the blademaster, or anyone who uses the nightblade mastery - it needs to be off the gcd(for those who understand wow and what that implies), and for those who don’t understand - the cast should not interrupt auto attacks or casts, it needs to be outside the passive gameplay.
I rushed to Elite Roten Cropland to farm dermapterans.
Mobs are 1 or 2 lvls above me.
My BS is lvl 12, with BoW attached. BoW dmg is approx. 1600 - 1800. My OF is 2020. since mid Veteran onwards i could as well call my build Blade Spirit Blademaster I just cannot beleive how it pwns Aside from bosses
Blade Spirit is one of those skills that is super effective, but super annoying to use. The short duration and passive nature of the skill just makes it frustrating (having to constantly recast) & boring damage.
If Execution didn’t exist I would hate on this skill a lot more. But since Execution is amazing you can dump all those mastery pts into NB without regretting it. When you get sick of BS at least Execution is there to give you a hug.
