Blood Orb of Ch'Thon

I found this thing and I’m trying to make a build with it. Does anyone know if the 100% of elemental damage converted to chaos damage applies to elemental DOTs, too, like electrocute damage?

Sadly no, I still get burn damage on my Empowered Fireblast for example. Not sure if it’s because Chaos/Aether do not have specific DoT versions, or if it’s just conversion being intended to work like that.

Good luck with the build! It’s my favourite piece of gear currently

It is the former as Internal Trauma converts into Burn/Frostburn/Electrocute just fine.

Ah ok, good to know!

Interesting. So essentially it’s a warlock item. Maybe combine AAR and Sigil of Consumption so the fire damage becomes Chaos damage and gets boosted.

Or Trozan’s Sky Shard.

Devastation has huge amounts of fire damage as well. The build can look like this.

I recently switched out of Sigil into Aether Ray after realizing how insanely powerful it can be though. Lots of options.

It’s used in Warlock builds, so you can build Chaos/aether (clairvoyant set) and get a lot of mileage out of Devastation/Doom bolt.

Yeah. It’s stuff like this I love about this game and is totally missing from other competitors in the space cough D3 cough. It’s one item and it totally changes how you think about building a character and opens up a ton more options.

Another interesting “gamechanger” is Warpfire, which converts 80% cold to fire (intended for sorceror)

(This is absurdly good with Blood Orb of Ch’Thon…)

The blood orb and warpfire are indeed nice build-enablers.

That’s what I really like in GD : viable builds diversity.

I was thinking about making a DW Saboteur with warpfire, once I get it. I still haven’t played any character with a maxed Amarasta’s Blade burst, so I would give it a try.

I have tested several things with the blood orb. When you look at all the procs on items with elemental damage (or just skills granted by components), you realize there are a lot of options to build arround, and not only casters.

I really enjoyed playing my Blood Rite Witchblade. I could finally craft a Necrosis relic and things went ‘smoothier’ in places like BoC.

Some call it build enabling. I call it a noob trap, that is unless you never plan to play in Act 4 ultimate, where the majority of mobs heavily resist chaos damage.

This would have been top notch if chaos debuff was easy

I’m not sure I get you mean…
Is it a noob trap if you don’t have the proper gear or is it a noob trap if you don’t know how to debuff chaos resistances ?

I made a video of that build, doing the tomb of the watchers, withtout the Necrosis relic. That was my 2nd attempt at it (First time I died a couple of time to Log). Second time : I didn’t die. Even met the Nemesis on my way down there. I admit, the clear speed was a bit low, but see, it’s manageable.

Since, I made a Necrosis relic and have done BoC a couple of time. The “clear/kill-speed” is roughly the same as a non-chaos damage dealer build…

Chaos debuffing is gear-dependent, I agree. Still, the Eldritch Fire, from the Solael Witchblade does a -20% chaos debuff at max level.
This was enough for my pure chaos-vitality build to get through veteran and elite.

I haven’t had any issues so far with Black Star of Deceit + Arcane Bomb/Eldritch Fire taking care of resists. Granted, it’s not as easy to debuff as elementals but daaamn can you stack damage well with Clairvoyant/Agrivix/Albrecht stuff, perfect support for split Aether/Chaos.

The upcoming Occult expansion/DLC/thingy makes me all giggly too, hoping for some cool stuff for Warlocks

Love necroing…

How is this build with that item and Black Flame Set?Build
