Boars run away if anyone approaches, so from the initial spawn there is just the icon of boars, but they are actually half map away. You might as well remove them if they can’t be approached or move their icon somewhat along if they are intended to be there (doesnt make sense for icon tho if they are just cosmetic)
It is a function of the spawner system.
The spawners are where new animals are generated, but they are capable of wandering away from that, or get spooked as in your example.
OK, good to know.
If I set the hunting area to the icon, will the hunter chase them down or should I place the hunting area above where these animal currently are ? Many thanks !
You would have to set it to where the animals are. Hunters will attack animals along the way too.
That said, hunters do not hunt boar by default due to how dangerous they are. They can be manually commanded to and will attack boars if boars attack other villagers. They automatically hunt deer though.
Oh I see, a deeper mechanic is available behind the “hunting” experience.
A few out loud related thoughts:
- Would higher level hunters hunt boars or is this always manual hunting intended ?
- Is there any in-game hinting at these “rules” ?
