So curious how long will take for the AI at this population to figure out what to do first
and done … 4 years and #*%$load of resources some micromanaging and balancing the laborers and builders, was intense
Yeah, I wish there was a list of how much upkeep materials were required per building and how often it happens. Once you get to around 300 population it becomes extremely difficult to keep up with the amount of materials that seem to be going to upkeep.
Plan ahead, the costs are the same - % of materials it cost to make the house, so always have builders and spare materials. It does suck that it mostly happens same time, but if you know its coming, its not a problem.
the million $ question is … do you know when it is coming? thanks for the tip with the planning!
Had the same “issue”. My bricks were permanent at 0. Until I figured out that they are needed for repairing stuff, alone the theatre needs 125 bricks to be maintained.
And stone is becoming a issue in late gamey than u focus 45% just were and how to het stone in late game. So that i lost the concentration for other materials.
Personally I do not like games were I have to take care of resources from minute one until.x hours of playtime. At some point the game should provide an solution for stone and wood. The player can than focus on other tasks. But i guess as long as it is early acess and you have build everything and updated all houses, it looses the target and sense. There is no hard mission to complete at the end or build a cathedral or something like Anno provides.
Lets see wherw it goes
I don’t understand why this tends to happen all at once.
It is happening to me as we speak. Only I didn’t build all of the decaying buildings at the same time nor do I lack materials or the labor to repair them. I have thousands of resources gathering dust waiting to be used but my people just walk right by decaying buildings.
This has the potential to completely break this game if it’s not fixed and I, for one, will call it out if not fixed. I know this is still early access and I’m not mad about it. I just want to see it taken care of.
Crate, please address this. Either get rid of structural integrity altogether or fix this particular issue.
i had managed by increasing the builders number and pulling out the workers from production buildings until the job was done - i think all this integrity decrease is considered building jobs
Except you DON’T know it’s coming. It’s a totally random thing. Simple proof… when it hits, load up the autosave from 10 mins before… and nope, doesn’t happen. It’s completely random. I’ve had a city go nearly 80 years without it happening (and it sucks to have happen to a 450 person town) and I’ve had it hit in year 41 AND 42.
If each building had a repair after X number of years, that’s fine, I can plan for it. But it’s just totally random and it hits 60-75% of your buildings at once, even ones that I built a few years earlier while others that are from the start of the game were unaffected.
It’s a great idea but poorly implemented. A simple change would be to make it happen 5x more often but hit 5x less buildings at once. Better change would make the building integrity bar actually work, not go from 100% to 33% instantly all at once.
and what is worse i think it affects also the buildings who built last year aswel those built at the begining of the game - so … no predisctibility of any kind!
Just had this hit my year 23 village, half the buildings, nearly all of the industrial buildings. Plank cost alone is 248 planks… I have 239 saved up. That’s absurd for a random condition. I don’t even come close to having to spend that defending a raid or even the army invasion later on.
I found the solution. It is still buggy from the point of view of the health bars since, when I saved and reloaded the health bars went from 33% and a brown color to 90% and a green color but still said 33%.
The “fix” was to go to the window where your population is listed by job and in the upper right corner, assign more people to be builders. By default I believe the game only has a handful of your people as workers and that number never changes unless YOU change it manually. Once I changed that number to an absurdly high level the buildings finally got repaired. Once the repairs were done I took it down a notch but still left a healthy amount of builders.
This fixed the issue with the number of buildings lacking in structural integrity so I wanted to share it with you all.
Happened to me too. Quite annoying and caused me to restart
No, this is not a fix. That’s how you fix the damage, but it’s not the problem of buildings not being repaired all along. It’s a random event where you get 50-75% of your buildings hit with that repair requirement. It’s not timed it’s completely random. You can go back 10 mins on an autosave and it will never happen for years possibly decades. I have that builder setting up quite high, it’s not that.
That’s why I put quotes around the word fix. You are right in that there is clearly an issue with the buildings all being at 33% simultaneously. I was merely pointing out what worked for me in getting the buildings repaired.
