Yes “RNG” does suck, and when it becomes too much of a roadblock in a game, I just don’t play it anymore. World of Tanks comes to mind.
At least with this game, I can still complete SR 30-34, albeit not without dying a few times, and I’m pretty sure having 2 mythical veilwarden bands vs. 2 empowered veilwarden bands on my death knight won’t be making much of a difference in my SR runs.
One of the rarest items in Diablo 2, if not THE rarest.
Oh the String of Maggots only drops from that thing? I got the normal version, but not the Mythical one yet…
I have done the same to the damn Sentinel to get the blueprint for the level 75 Covenant of the Three - countless runs and never once did it drop…
And I never gotten any of Ekket’zul’s horns, either. But I never farmed that guy, so far, so there is that. The three Stone Gryphon heads are also not easy to accumulate. But at least with those, you know where to go to farm them.
I feel that there should be more blueprints for these items, and a few more vendors that sell randomized blueprints (like Audrey II in the Beast dungeon).
Yep, I did a few farming sessions but no luck
Don’t have those either. But then again, I never tried. I keep finding things I don’t have yet. While some other items I have too many
I do have those somehow, two even!
Ah ok, never played that.
Unfortunately Audrey only sells non-mythical blueprints. I wonder if Crate will allow non mythical legendaries to be ‘ascended’?
Diablo2. Back then you couldn’t expect to gather every single legendary item, just because you played the game for 1000+ hours. As opposed to GD.
Tyrael’s Might was a quite rare armor. Never met anyone having it.
Perspective.

Unfortunately Audrey only sells non-mythical blueprints. I wonder if Crate will allow non mythical legendaries to be ‘ascended’?
Yeah, I think there will be a system like that in Fangs of Asterkarn. We will see!
I was wondering, would the new Altar in FoA help with dropping specific epics/legendaries? Like, if you configure the altar to get more Aether items, would it increase the chance of getting a Mythical Veilwarden Band (since that’s what was mentioned in the OP) compared to, say, a Mythical Rotbender Ring, or would it only affect the chance for aether-related affixes on items?
so what did you bribe RNGesus with - Grim Dawn is obviously a pray to win game
And I bet you have a number of different Epics that have never dropped. I suspect that some of these items are region-specific or have a lower drop %, because I’m still seeing a very small selection of the same epic pieces drop over and over again.
This horseshit is even worse when it comes to farming greens that have certain prefixes & suffixes from certain bosses. I just don’t get it. They want us to tinker & experiment with builds, but there’s not much encouragement to do so if you have to farm for hundreds of hours just for a certain piece, not to mention the inventory limitations. There’s a crafting system in the game, but for some odd reason, the ability to change prefixes & suffixes on greens is absent.

I just don’t get it
certain bosses doesn’t “guarantee” you a specific prefix, it’s the MI itself that’s biased, and the MI just happens to drop from said boss
And that’s because people got annoyed and complained when a fire ring or fire medal or fire sword would keep dropping with pierce affix or aether or vitality because every affix was equal chance to drop.
So devs did a bias related to item base dmg, so fire item = fire affix is more likely to drop, not the only affix that can drop but think 10%bias vs 1%unbias (this was lower initially as the first round of bias weights still lead to people complaining “intended” affixes still rarely happened/many “useless” affixes got rolled)
It’s also important to keep in mind the original intent and use of the items, devs never intended for green MIs to be simple fix and main dish “eat what you wish” build item slot as you desire, they were intended to be “raw RNG”.
Now that the game has gradually changed over the years and greens have become both the core and forefront of build and acquisition (old days people didn’t even post builds with them), devs have then relented a bit on that old original intent and is giving us the affix reroll system, something they might never have considered back in the day because of different design vision.
Yeah, maybe I’ll try farming Bastion of Chaos for a while since they certainly don’t appear to be dropping from “Toot’ems” or anywhere else.
That’s a bias. I happened to be in the Bastion of Chaos when it dropped and thought of you, but it doesn’t mean that’s the only place where it drops. That would make no sense anyway, it’s not a MI.
