Build 27: Shaman Mastery and Balance Update

I am behind this too! I like what they added but it seems rushed or something that was added at the last minute. It was poorly implemented in this build IMO.

Just played a bit with the Shaman, simply to try it. Not bad so far :slight_smile: I noticed one of the skills changed from when it was first announced:

Stinging Swarm
“Conjure a swarm of bloodthirsty insects that tear apart anything they come in contact with.”

Stinging Swarm unleashes a hungering cloud of insects to rip your enemies apart with hundreds of small bites. The more you invest in this power, the more enemies will be affected by each cast. The Modifier for this skill cripples your enemies’ ability to hit you. The skill’s Transmuter causes the swarm to heal you for all the damage it causes in exchange for reduces damage dealt, turning it into a powerful defensive technique.

It no longer has a transmuter. Bummer, I was hopping to use it as a massive attack/healing skill! :smiley:

Wind Devil is so awesome for pulling mobs, before you know it WD has pulled an extra 10 mobs onto you to AOE down. Primal Strike seems buggy though, it misses all the time, and sometimes the animation goes off but you don’t use the skill and it doesn’t go on CD.

On the bright side, my Aether Ray Sorceress just needed new boots (only thing that went out of stat-range), and now has a DPS of over 17000 http://www.grimdawn.com/forums/images/smilies/happy2.gif

Though honestly, I’m not sure it’s really all that much higher than it was before, it’s just that before I had no way of accurately calculating it (Aether ray has always been pretty powerful, if you have the energy to keep it going). There were definitely some things that got less powerful, but there were other things that got more powerful to make up for it. Though I admit some builds are going to need more work than others to re-spec/gear for the new weapons and components.

The new DPS display is also useful for deciding which skills/bufs to use; Maiven’s Sphere, for example, turns out to reduce my damage by a lot less than I had previously thought (the skill says “reduces total damage by 40%”, but the actual reduction in my DPS is just under 5%; apparently the multipliers weren’t getting applied in the order I thought they were).

Once I looked at it some more the char 2 tab actually told me more about my damage than the dps did for some of my builds especially my hybrid ones… Yes they took some damage hits but nothing I can’t live with.

Maybe that because I haven’t farmed nearly as much as some because I figured something like this would happen at some point.

Question though, should the new East Marsh regions be labled or deblurred on the map? It doesn’t look like you should be able to get there at all.
Plus Hallowed Hill is labled and that is a ‘hidden’ area so it seems strange to me.

thanks Crate ! i’m enjoying the new mastery and also love the new component icon art - that’s the kind of minor details which really add to the game. most of the balance changes sound great (didn’t have time to test it in depth though).

BTW Grasping Vines animation is absolutely beautiful.

Oh my gosh, didn’t realise the East Marsh area would be so big! It’s almost another act all on its own. :smiley:

What the hell are you doing Crate!! for what? crate hate cold based “melee” class ??

where am i get cold dmg gears? i can’t see epic or green cold items [for melee] good job!

Are you referring to the end results of the conversion being reflected in the char sheet, or the amount of % conversion you have? I believe the former is in the char sheet.
