Build Advice: 2H Physical Warder

I’ve been playing through Elite as a Warder with a physical-based 2-hander Savagery build. I’ve seen plenty of people that seem to have builds with this setup that do insanely well and have the ability to facetank most content, but throughout Elite I haven’t done all that well, and Loghorrean/Nemeses have absolutely wrecked me. I’d like to actually nail down whether or not this is a build problem or a gear problem.

My build as it is at my current level

My build as it would presumably be at cap

Any and all advice/critique would be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar Elementalist build that is able to facetank everything, but since I can’t see your gear, I’m assuming that your problem is hp regen. You probably have a nice hp pool, but without hp regen, a large hp pool doesn’t allow you to facetank for more than a few seconds.

Focus on getting a lot of physical resist, hp regen, and other common resists. For ultimate, your hp regen should be above 1000 if you want to be able to facetank tough bosses. Even then, you might have to go for more lifesteal and resist reduction in order to lifesteal from bosses.

you have no Field Command, Squad Tactics, Decorated Soldier or Scars of Battle…these really help (main reason to take Soldier) as they give you OA / DA / damage / attack speed / elemental resist / stun resist / bleeding resist

Your build should look like this at level 85, skill bonuses included.

Seriously get Field Command, Warcry/Break Morale and max the shit out of Wendigo totem now.
Actually Warder’s natural regen is not impressive, but Wendigo totem’s %health based heal and a massive HP pool make him one of the greatest tanker in the game.
For devotion, you must have Assasin’s Blade, Falcon, Kraken and Oleron, the rest are flexible, depends on what you’re lacking.

Once you’ve raised your resistances to an acceptable level. I advice to max all of them, but if you can’t, keep some items in your inventory that give you the desired resist against specific enemies (ie, you can keep bleeding low in some areas, but if you face Fabius, swap to something that max bleeding resist.)

Try to get a good armor value, and all the physical resist you can get (you start with 8% from Savagery’s transmuter). Field Command should be maxed (12/12) if you have tanking issues (and probably even if not).

Don’t forget to complement armor with armor absorption (ideally 100%), or you’re wasting some defensive potential (Scars of Battle, Scaled hide component, etc etc)

You cannot get a superlative Hp regen out of a warder without investing heavy on it, but with Wendigo Totem, you don’t have to. Keep the skill at a multiplier of 3, and ideally to at least 12/12 when you have the points.

A “Tyrant” weapon on the swap can let you skip WarCry, but if not, get this skill to a reasonable level. Since you’re physical, some point in Break Morale don’t hurt either.

Life leech against bosses is still difficult with this build, but a single Haunted Steel component in your weapon will let you engage normal mobs without drinking/dropping a Wendigo in every fight, and should speed your gameplay quite a bit. Also, in this regard, don’t forget to put some points in Feral Hunger.

Gear wise, as we cannot see what you’re wearing, i cannot give you any advice…

As a 2H attack speed is very important. Points in stormed touched will help you more than tendency of the boar, especially when you pick up squad tactics for its attack speed and oa/da. As a physical build, your only gaining % for damage converted to health from blood pact. The bleed and vit damage is wasted. Point in totem is by far better. Feral hunger only needs to be at the point where it activates at 25%, i think around lv 8… seeing your gear would help… Mogdrogen’s pack gives you flat hp/energy regen, if your % for them is high, Mogdrogen’s pack will scale well with points there. If the % is low skills like tendency of the boar help more…

stormed touched and Mogdrogen pack i can still accept… BUT “tendency of the boar” is simply epic…:D:D:D

Thank you Scote.
