Build Challenge - Fastest AFK Callagadra kill

Natural and logical for a player to take one of these builds as a template – an AFK Callagadra kill should be able to handle most anything especially not AFK don’t you think? Callagadra is one of the toughest monsters in the game is she not?

Exactly. That’s why we need careful wording in the first post. Maybe adding a disclaimer?

Maybe we could let @RektbyProtoss HC approve them as he did with the top-20 builds :scorv:

Shouldn’t it be their resonsibility and take things like this with grain of salt? Like how many “dread lords Gollus ring of Natures bounty” has dropped in the history of GD legit in game? And these builds have two of them? It is like should every traning video on youtube have the disclaimer “note, you will not ever get these big biceps unless you take 300mg of testosterone 6months/year for 5 years”… its just a computer game dude, we do this for the sheer fun of it. If you think you lost your char on false premises, just GD stash it back or get informed before you try it out.

Nice try! Good to see someone else had the same idea too :stuck_out_tongue:

Now I just need to get off my rear and try myself. But yeah, going to need some rethinks and a lot of mistakes and deaths in the process.

So I tried Commando similar to yours and did it in around 21 minutes. Didn’t record this one but I should be able to optimize for better OA.

Warder should be much faster if defense can be figured out.

Dawnbreaker Commando

True, hence no point comparing it to world championships?

That’s a softcore mindset. Those who play HC, wouldn’t do that normally. That’s the opposite of what HC crowd is looking for. In fact, there’s someone who commented in this thread, who plays softcore with a HC mindset. That is, if their char dies, they nuke their save file and start over. Now, that’s true purist HC way. They don’t even need to select HC mode to play true HC.

I mentioned HC as one extreme example. But we don’t even have to go that far. Would you agree that most players are constantly looking for blueprints? Builds to be used for various purposes? Like the top 20? Similarly, best build vs Calla, etc. So, wouldn’t you agree that it’s important to note the rate of success alongside these results? Like, if you yourself were looking for such a build, wouldn’t you wanna know the rate before embarking on the long road of making one? Like, would you still choose a setup that has 1 in 1000 chance of surviving Calla, as opposed to 100% survival rate?
Yes, I know, this is a mad test, being 100% AFK. But still, many ppl are looking for tanky builds that don’t require dashing every 5 sec when facing Calla? So, even if you’re playing softcore, there’s still a reason to differentiate between glassy and tanky setups.

I would disagree it’s a useless set, for deep sr its really good (SR40 at least)

oh there is an official list of the best 20 builds in the game? can i have the link? now i’m curious if there is a pet char among them

Wouldn’t call it official, just what some players made based on certain critiera they applied for them.

No pet char among them. But doesn’t mean there’s no pet char that could match the criteria. Simply not enough testing? The group of builders spearheading the project doesn’t usually focus on pets. But I hope the situation will change in the near future. Especially after Banana_Peel has started to poke around pet builds here

gotta say, i’m kinda sad but it’s alright. Top build can kill Calla in less than a minute, while pet builds struggle to go under two minutes (conjurers, i guess). Maybe it’s time to buff them a bit? XD

Man, we explained it literally like hundred of times. At the moment of testing none of the pet builds we tested came close to top20 based on our criteria. We tested several strongest archetypes. Had the testing happened today maybe one or two pet builds would’ve sneaked in but not sure.

Few pet builds were tested. In the actual testing players played Vitality Beastcaller Conjurer by Eard and Vitality and chaos Lost Souls by Nofika. I also built Ghol Cabalist and few Beastcaller builds like lightning and fire.

At the time of testing none of them were competitive enough. Vitality Beastcaller had great single target damage and good single target sustain, but had poor AoE damage and an average group sustain. Lost Souls builds were fast, but too fragile compared to top dogs. Also too much piano.

Worth saying, pets were massively buffed in a patch after the initial thorough tests and reached bonker times. Also, some skills/procs were made passive, which improved QoL. Afterwards pets had some nerfs here and there, so they are in different spot. Balance is changing, so you can’t make extrapolations based on the original list, tested in an older patch. But this isn’t a conversation for this topic…

That top20 happened after pet nerfs iirc. The big pet buff happened somewhere between the two top20 iterations and there were a lot of very strong pets builds. After the nerf the situation changed and they didn’t make the cut at the last top20.

If we were to make the list at this moment, some pets would likely be in there. Nofika had very good resuts with chaos skeletons. I’ll try normal Bysmiel soon and will see how it fares now.

You can make hundreds of builds that will conquer SR40 and will have some dmg for it to no be a painful slog, unlike Dawnguard. This set just has nothing at all aside flat retal value. The only purpose it serves is shoving two piece into a random retal build to get that juicy 2 piece bonus.

Chaos skeletons? You mesn Cabalist with Lost Souls and twin Voiswhisper rings?

Regardless, there is a grimtools for that build?

custom build, no set

I tried a normal version of Bysmiel. It’s still not a top performer in the farming range.

Ravens are morons. Pet attack makes them stand far away spraying their huge cone of projectiles every which way, clipping objects and such, and denying you and other pets heals. Pets survive easily but the caster is not tanky.

Speed also suffers a lot from the Raven idiocy. A pet that performs spectacularly when it can just stand inside a huge hitbox and shotgun falls rather short against actual nongimmick content.

What I see in the OP is that Pests are more than 2 times stronger than non-pests
:zantai:, you know what to do. You want a pretext to nerf them and it’s right here.

Hey, watch your language please! Skellies are no pests! They are cute and very fragile creatures! They need protection and care not pesticides! :joy:
