Build for a beginner of the game

Hi so i started playing GD a few days ago and it was fun until i hit elite. Once i hit elite it became really hard. Gear isn’t the issue the build is the issue. I’m playing the tri element fire striker by jajaja since when i started i searched for good starter build that don’t require BiS to even work. The build is strong and i destroy bosses the problem is i get over run as i have no consistent way of dealing with multiple enemies only a 5% chance on kill to do an area skill thats reliable. I do have that devotion skill thats an area but it’s not reliable as it’s mostly away from the enemies on a single enemy away from the rest.

I will continue to play this build as i know ill get some area later on as i get one in 12 devotion points.

So i need some help getting a build going that has some way of handling multiple enemies earlier then this firestriker. I would really enjoy playing a caster thats not glass cannon. And i have looked around for builds using google but as a newbie it’s hard as most build guides talk about stuff i don’t understand so i don’t know if you need certain gear to even play it. Thats what i really liked about jajaja’s fire striker it said everything a new player needed. In what order to take skills, devotions. Said clearly that all items are craftable not many must have items and those that were are easy to obtain as it’s not really drops it’s rep and craft.

I saw a sweet looking build today that was a cold lighting caster seemed really fun.

But really anything range will be good for me. Im not the biggest fan of the melee with loot as i have to loot before i can namelock the monsters to avoid death or move away and wait for the monsters to come to me so i can see them.

I guess i should say that i play the game as a single player game if it’s even possible to do multiplayer. As i said i’m new have heard about it for a few years or so playing Path of Exile, bought it on sale, tested it and kinda loved it. that was 2 days ago.

First thing you need to understand is even a build that is mostly crafted and less gear dependant build like the Tri-damage saboteur is also pretty gear dependant for a beginner.

RNG is RNG but it may still take you quiet a bit to even drop all the required blueprints and specific mandatory items for builds to function.

I think build section generally lacks truly newbie builds for up and coming players and informing about building up the foundation of blueprints and extra items that are necessary for a complete build and new characters.
Depending on your unluck it can take a stupid amount to drop certain items. For instance my first Warpfire drop was right after surpassing 750 hours which is an essential item for the build you follow… This caused me to not being able to pick up builds that utilized Warpfire (especially it could have up to 95% conversion).

You can search for the Vitality Conjurer which i think is still the best newbie build to learn more about the game while having a relaxed gameplay throughout the end of Ultimate.

Although i could take different paths throughout the leveling and mainly in the final build, i can assure you can give this a try since it is proven to be successful by the OP.
And it can actually transition into one of the strongest builds there is especially for Crucible farming.

Ill try the warder and see if i enjoy it. looks to be a good starting build to start farming for some gear for other builds.

If you like pet builds, then I have a build diary / guide that talks about how to build a solid pet character from scratch, as a first character, using gear you can easily find or craft. It’s hardcore viable all the way through the vanilla campaign, up to and including ultimate difficulty Loghorrean. The link for it is here:

Hopefully your time in GD proves enjoyable, however you decide to move forward.
