Build/Theorycraft Help -- DW Crimson Spike Dark One

Hi all, I am hoping some Grim Dawn veterans can help me take my build to the next level! Here it is so far: https://www.grimtools.com/calc/0V0vKprN

The goal of this build is to be insanely tanky with good damage.

For defense, I settled on dual-wield mythical crimson spikes with the Dark One’s set. This gives me around 100% of life healed per second from wendigo totems, even if I am stunned or frozen. Plus I have some healing devotions like wendigo (you can’t have too much wendigo!). Then, I tried to get as high physical resist as possible since my armor is low. I have about 47% physical resist. I would like to push that higher.

For offense, I get lots of flat chaos, acid, and vitality damage from the Occultist class. All of it is converted to vitality. I get some flat vitality damage from my two wendigo totems too. Right now, I have about 76k damage per second from my main attack (savagery). Also, I use the spinning eyeballs devotion, which does chaos and acid/poison damage, all of which is converted to vitality. With 5 eyeballs spinning I estimate another 40-50k damage from that. I also have the fetid pools converted fully to damage, wendigo, and rattosh.

For resists reduction I use the Shaman bugs (60%), the Occultist curse (22%), the Revenant skeletons (24%), Rattosh (25%), and a ring (15%) for a total of 146.

OA is at about 2700 and DA is about 2500 with my buffs up.

I haven’t put the soulbound powders on my gear yet.

Any recommendations would be great – especially to make this guy more tanky. I have not yet tried Crucible or any hard content with it, but it is good for the monster totems so far, as long as I avoid being arcane debuffed. Thanks!!!

I’d focus on raising that DA. No amount of healing in the world will save you from being one-shot, and low DA can definitely lead to being one-shot by a crit

I appreciate the spirit of what you’re trying to do. I love dual-wield DPS and I love putting together off-meta ideas. I don’t think this combo will ever be tanky, but I think it can be decent.

First off, upgrade your pants to something relevant. Wendigomane or anything else suitable that is level 82+. You have half the armor there you should.

If you’re trying to build an autoattack build, you need attack speed. Dark One set doesn’t help you there at all. Blood Knight does. It also solves your armor problem. However, this set doesn’t have any skill bonuses to Shaman or Occultist spells. So what do you do? Go setless, probably.

If you want to take it to the next level you also need to find a way to convert Savagery’s lightning damage to vitality. Crimson Spike doesn’t do that. But there is a faction weapon that does - Bloodrender. I think you’ll have much better results running two of those, despite the fact that you lose a fat chunk of ADCTH, because you will do much more damage this way.
