If you have no tasks for them, why would you expect them to be building anything?
i dont have any build orders, but the game assing labourers to builders, i dont know why
Strange. It shouldn’t unless you manually tell it to increase builders far as I know.
I think there are these numbers, which has something to do with builders:
A = actual count of builders overall, which the game automatically increase or decrease, depening on the builder work to do, but maximum B, except you increase D
B = from player maximum allowed builders overall
C = maximum free labourer, which can switch to be a builder
D = actual maximum assigned builders to this construction site
E = maximum possible builders for this site
right?
Hi Murat - I’m not a developer but the explanation of the lettering is correct to my knowledge. I also think I know the situation / scenario you’ve encountered.
You had previous build orders, and labourers were associated to building due to the work required.
In your earlier screenshot you have a maximum capacity of 50 builders, which is why you have 45 in there out of 50.
However once the work is completed, the builders don’t automatically go back to labour, because you have open builder slots (regardless of the build orders).
Solution: Lower the number of builders, and only raise it when you need to max focus on construction.
Conclusion: I don’t think this is a bug as the logic is seemingly working as intended. However a potential improvement / new feature would be an automatic toggle that allows your builders to go back to labour if there is no build orders.
I had set B to 1 for a while and then A also goes down to 1. Then i set B to 50 and A goes up again, nearly instant. Still no build order.
The problem is:
If B is just a maximum number, then A have to be 0, because there is nothing to build.
If B is not a maximum number, instead a hard assign order, then A should be equal to B.
Both theories are not applyable, because B = 50 and A = 45 in this example.
I have many other examples for this.
Yes because you are saying that I want up to this number of builders. I believe builders are also responsible for repairs and maintenance. So there may be a link to that.
I dont know, if builders or labourer do repair, but it doesnt matter, because the builders do nothing right now, as you can see in the screenshot from my first post.
Second example:
why 47? there is nothing to do and they do nothing.
I haven’t looked at your savegame - and I don’t know what the logic for a builder is so I can only assume that its because you have so many open building slots and because you have a number of buildings, the builders get automatically assigned for potential maintenance and repair. Not necessarily that you have that much right now.
I’m not sure why you’d have so many either, but from my experience so far, I’ve never needed more than 20 builders with a population of over 300. So it may even be to do with the volume you’re applying.
Im having this too.
But in my case i was really using 65 builders to construct the wall, roads and repairs. But it all took so little time that after they were done with everything, they kept assigned to “builder” but there was no more service left.
They won’t switch back to being labourers once there’s no work for them. You have to lower their number; preferably back down to the default 4 I would guess since you don’t need more than that.
